Tiger Woods is at Augusta for the first round

Precise News

As is always the case when he appears at Major events, Tiger Woods was one of the most-watched golfers during Day 1 year’s Masters Tournament.
And although Woods won The Masters as recently as 2019, his odds weren’t great for a championship this time around.
Woods has made 23 consecutive cuts at the Masters, tied with Fred Couples and Gary Player for the longest streak of all-time.
Although Woods claims to be playing through injury right now, he is still clearly talented enough to make some waves at Augusta.

NEUTRAL

Tiger Woods was among the most watched players on the first day of the Masters Tournament this year, as he usually is at major tournaments. Woods is going for his sixth Masters victory, which would tie him for the most all-time with Jack Nicklaus. Even though Woods was the winner of The Masters as recently as 2019, his chances of winning this time around were not very good.

Apart from winning, Woods is also thinking about setting another record. Woods is tied for the longest streak in Masters history with Fred Couples and Gary Player after making 23 straight cuts. Only the top-50 players from the first two days advance to the weekend, where most PGA events mark their cut at the top-61. The Masters is known for its harsh cut.

But on the first hole of the competition, Woods surprised a lot of fans by making a birdie. Woods is comfortably positioned inside the top-20 of the field going into Day 2, despite his struggles throughout the day to break through that -1 plateau.

Woods is clearly talented enough to cause some waves at Augusta, even though he says he is currently playing through an injury. This is how Woods performed during the first day of play.
