Earlier today the Unheard Edition of Escape From Tarkov was announced as part of the latest patch, promising a brand new player versus environment mode and other bonuses.
Now that the edition has launched, fans are not happy with the bonus it gives and the massive $250 price tag.
The first issue that fans have is that the player versus environment mode for Tarkov is exclusive to those who buy the new edition.
A lot of fans who have the EoD edition are, rightfully, very annoyed that they now have to upgrade from the EoD edition, which costs $100, in order to play it.
“It ain’t DLC, its unique feature of the new edition added,” said Discord user appl3z0r, who is the Lead Community Manager at Battlestate Games for Escape from Tarkov.

Battlestate Games is yet to officially comment on the backlash from fans, however, with pressure mounting from fans and some even looking into legal action, you would expect them to do so sooner rather than later.
With public sentiment towards Tarkov very low, many fans are hoping they can get hands-on with GZW sooner rather than later.
The latest patch included the announcement of the Unheard Edition of Escape From Tarkov earlier today, which promised additional bonuses and a brand-new player versus environment mode. After the edition’s release, customers are dissatisfied with the $250 price tag and the bonus it offers.
Fans’ first complaint is that only those who purchase the new edition of Tarkov can play the player versus environment mode. The season pass, which you would think would include this new mode, promised all future DLC content to anyone who bought the previous Edge of Darkness edition.
To be fair, many fans of the $100 EoD edition are displeased that they now need to upgrade in order to play it. Some have attempted to clarify why BSG believes this is not DLC, though, in posts on the official Discord channel.

Big in-game bonuses that players with the new edition will receive are the other main complaint from fans. Due to these and a few other bonuses, the edition has been dubbed “pay to win,” with players who purchase it anticipating a significant advantage over those who do not, particularly at the beginning of a wipe.
All but three of the official Escape From Tarkov Discord server’s channels have been silent due to the overwhelming negative response to the new edition, making it impossible for users to post in them. The Reddit rule prohibiting multiple posts on the same topic is being waived by moderators on the game’s subreddit, who claim to be “just as livid about this situation as you.”. “.

Although Battlestate Games has not yet made an official statement regarding the negative feedback from fans, you would think that they would sooner rather than later given the growing amount of pressure from fans and the fact that some are even considering taking legal action.
The timing of the move is particularly unfortunate because Gray Zone Warfare, a game that many believe to be Tarkov’s rival, recently concluded its first public streamer test, which was extremely well received by players.
