BARTLESVILLE, Okla. – Cleanup efforts continue in Oklahoma Wednesday after a powerful and deadly tornado with a preliminary rating of EF-4 struck the communities of Barnsdall and Bartlesville Monday night.
And an intense video recorded in a local Hampton Inn hotel shows the dramatic moments guests were running for cover as the twister hit, sending debris flying into the air – and into the hotel – while tornado sirens blared.

Then the tornado hits, knocking out power and sending debris flying into the air as Lancaster and at least one other person start running for cover.
After the tornado, guests emerged from their shelter and found scenes of destruction.
He also said guests on the second floor were trapped when debris blocked a stairwell.
Macedo said he believed the hotel took the most damage from the tornado in the area.

The deadly storm was preceded by a tornado emergency.

Just before nine o’clock on Monday night, forecasters issued a tornado warning due to the development of a supercell thunderstorm in Osage County, Oklahoma, setting off the dangerous ordeal. M.

About an hour later, as the tornado was getting closer to the town of Barnsdall, forecasters issued a rare Tornado Emergency, the most serious tornado alert.

It then moved on Bartlesville, destroying that town and killing at least one person.

While the tornado was wreaking havoc and heading toward Bartlesville, visitors to a nearby Hampton Inn began bracing themselves for the worst.

A guest at the hotel named Matt Macedo spoke with FOX Weather on Tuesday. He said that as soon as the tornado sirens started to sound, he and the other guests gathered in the lobby to seek cover. Eventually, they made their way to a windowless laundry room.

At that point, catastrophe struck.

The hotel was directly hit by the tornado, and although many guests sought shelter inside rooms, others stood in the lobby, watching what was happening out the front door.

Strong gusts are seen whipping through the deluge of rain in Lucas Lancaster’s footage of the stormy chaos.

Tornado sirens can be heard screaming in the background of the video, alerting people to the impending monster.

A 165 mph tornado tears through the Nebraska brothers’ home, saying, “I was just screaming his name.”.

The sky then appears to be glowing an unsettling blue and green due to power flashes, and the tornado sirens are affected as a result.

Lancaster and at least one other person begin to run for cover as the tornado strikes, cutting off power and launching debris skyward.

They took refuge behind a desk, and while more debris is seen flying by the damaged front door, you can hear things hitting the hotel walls.

Upon exiting their shelter following the tornado, visitors were met with scenes of devastation.

On the first floor, Macedo reported, there was extensive damage, including an air conditioning unit that broke through a wall.

A stairwell was obstructed by debris, he added, trapping visitors on the second floor.

All of them were saved, and there were no serious injuries noted.

The hotel, according to Macedo, appears to have sustained the most damage from the local tornado.

Northeast Bartlesville residential areas and medical facilities were reported to have sustained additional damage.
