Not just Apple and Sonos are making waves in the media this week with their latest products. Following weeks of speculation, Google also formally unveiled the Pixel 8A, revealing the upcoming smartphone one week ahead of Google I/O 2024. The forthcoming Pixel 8A is deliberately targeted towards the midrange market, as anticipated. Even after a $50 price increase, Google’s Pixel 7A became our favorite Android phone under $500. Its 64MP primary camera and several other features that are usually only found in higher-end phones—like wireless charging—were major contributors to its success. The latest processor from Google, a few minor hardware enhancements, and an astounding seven years of software support—unprecedented in the midrange class—all contribute to the 8A’s superb base.

The 64MP camera, 8GB of RAM, and IP67 rating are all still present in the 8A’s specs. On the other hand, the 6 point 1 inch display now has a 120Hz refresh rate and a maximum brightness of 2,000 nits. It also supports Magic Editor, Best Take, and other generative AI photo and video features found on the Pixel 8 and 8 Pro. — which may alter your perspective on smartphone photography, for better or ill.

$ 499.

Along with a few minor enhancements, such as a 120Hz display, a powerful Tensor G3 processor, and an abundance of new artificial intelligence features, Google’s most recent midranger promises an incredible seven years of software support.

Although it looks like the Beats Studio Buds are going out of style to make room for the new Beats Solo Buds, you can still purchase the entry-level wireless earbuds at Amazon, Walmart, and Target for just $79.95 ($70 off). Even after all this time, they remain an affordable, comfortable, and well-sounding pair of earbuds that work with both iOS and Android functions. In terms of noise cancellation, though, don’t expect them to blow you away. Go through our review.

Lego’s Tiny Plants collection, which we featured in our Mother’s Day gift guide, is currently available for $39.99 ($10 off) at Amazon, Best Buy, and Target—matching the lowest price we’ve seen for it. The 758-piece set, which is eclectic in nature, is likely one of the more desk-friendly kits in Lego’s growing botanical series. To be honest, none of the blocky flora in Lego is any less adorable because of its small size; on the contrary.
