NEUTRAL

The NFL Draft in 2024 is less than four weeks away. Four weeks are all that separates potential franchise-changing talent from several franchises. Both Ohio State wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr. and USC quarterback Caleb Williams are “generational talents” that should be on draft boards this year. one of the most important drafts in a long time may be 2024.

However, a number of rumors about specific teams have begun to circulate as the first round draws near. In order to get the best players available, teams in desperate need of quarterbacks may be more willing to trade up to the top of the draft. That appears to be a widely held belief these days, with a number of analysts anticipating a trade into the top ten, including Michael Middlehurst-Schwartz of USA Today and Nate Davis.

The questions on fans’ minds are: where will the trade take place, who will be involved, and who will be the first player off the board who isn’t a quarterback? The most recent rumors and predictions regarding the top ten NFL Draft selections are listed below without further ado.

NFL News: The Cardinals’ two new additions are listed as having the most player-friendly contracts.

Into the top-10, who is anticipated to trade up?

Moving up to select their quarterback of the future appears to be the most likely scenario for the Minnesota Vikings.

NFL STATS CENTRAL: Up-to-date NFL schedules, stats, odds, and more.

The Vikings desperately need a signal-caller if they are to have any chance of contending in the difficult NFC North going forward, as Kirk Cousins left for Atlanta during the offseason. The Vikings would still not be guaranteed a top-three quarterback in this class even if they traded into the top ten. Additionally, it would be very expensive for the team.

There are some reports that suggest the Vikings may trade up as early as third overall, but the majority of them indicate that they will advance to the fifth or sixth pick. But considering the Patriots’ quarterbacking needs, that seems unlikely.

The fourth and fifth picks, respectively, are currently owned by the Arizona Cardinals and Los Angeles Chargers. Since the Cardinals do not currently need a quarterback, wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr. of OSU may be willing to trade down. is selected among the top three choices. In addition to not needing a quarterback, the Chargers appear to be much more willing to trade down than other teams.

But if the Vikings traded for the No. 1 pick, who would they choose with their selection? Their selection would most likely be Michigan quarterback J., who is currently the most likely candidate at number five. J. the majority of reports, McCarthy. The Vikings not only sent four players to Michigan’s pro day to watch McCarthy in action, but in the past few weeks, the Wolverines’ field general has also seen a sharp increase in his draft stock. McCarthy has become a surefire top ten pick after rising from a prospect in the early second round.

Might McCarthy be the target of other teams?

Naturally, there are other teams who would like to select a quarterback in the draft besides the Vikings. Denver Broncos (12th overall) and New York Giants (6th overall) are two more teams that might be in the running.

If the Giants wanted to move up, they would undoubtedly have the best pick to trade, but Minnesota has two first-round picks (picks 11 and 23), which might give them the advantage in any negotiations. Minnesota will probably have to give up at least one of their two first-round picks in order to advance, even though they would prefer not to. A large number of specialists concur.

In the first round, which other quarterbacks will be selected?

With five projected to go in the first 12 picks in both Michael Middlehurst-Schwartz’s and Nate Davis’ mock drafts, 2024 might be a record-tying year for quarterback prospects.

Only in 1999 did five quarterbacks get selected in the first round. Within the first 12 picks that year were Tim Couch (first overall), Donovan McNabb (second overall), Akili Smith (third overall), Daunte Culpepper (11th overall), and Cade McNown (12th overall).

The players of USC, UNC, LSU, and Michigan are Caleb Williams, Drake Maye, and J. A. J. McCarthy are all predicted by many to be selected in the top ten overall. There are already four. The Denver Broncos are the fifth overall. The Broncos have stated that they would be willing to trade up for a quarterback, but they may have to settle for 12 in order to acquire the worst available player. Fortunately for them, there are probably still a ton of excellent quarterback options at that position.

Davis and Middlehurst-Schwartz anticipate that Bo Nix of Oregon will be chosen by the Broncos for that spot. Due to his college experience, Nix is regarded as a high-floor option even though he does not have the ridiculous ceiling that the quarterbacks above him do. After trading Russell Wilson to the Pittsburgh Steelers, the Broncos are in desperate need of a quarterback. Nix would provide an instant improvement over the current quarterback duo of Jarrett Stidham and Ben DiNucci.

This year, Michael Penix of Washington is the only other quarterback who might be selected in the first round. While many believe the Heisman runner-up isn’t good enough to be selected in the first round, former general manager of the New York Jets Mike Tannenbaum declared Penix a “mortal lock” for the first round on March 29 following his outstanding pro day. However, Tannenbaum wasn’t the only person who found Penix’s workout impressive.

The text that NFL insider Jordan Schultz obtained from an NFL coach following Penix’s pro day was made public. Maybe Penix’s performance will be enough to propel the former Washington Husky into the first round, as the coach appears to be very enthusiastic about it. The Los Angeles Rams (19th pick) and Dallas Cowboys (24th pick) are two teams that might be interested in Penix.

Dak Prescott is going to enter his last year of contract, even though the Cowboys don’t currently have a dire need for a quarterback. The Cowboys may decide to play it safe and select Penix late in the first round, even though reports suggest that Prescott is still Dallas’ “long-term solution” at the position. Penix might be a surprise riser on draft boards as April progresses, regardless of the Cowboys’ interest.
