1 seed in the NCAA tournament.
Thanks to Arizona’s loss in the Pac-12 tournament on Friday, the Boilermakers should be safely on the No 1 seed line Sunday despite the loss.
The trick will be avoiding the upset loss that stunned college basketball a season ago.
Purdue became the second No.
1 seed to lose to a No.16 seed in 2023 when Fairleigh Dickinson upset the Boilermakers.
The victory should also solidify Wisconsin’s status as a top-six seed in the tournament.

Purdue’s overall record drops to 29-4 after the loss, but it probably won’t harm the Boilermakers’ chances of a No. 1 seed in the NCAA Basketball Tournament. Notwithstanding the loss, the Boilermakers ought to be guaranteed a top seed on Sunday because of Arizona’s defeat in the Pac-12 tournament on Friday.

Steer clear of the shocking defeat that college basketball suffered just a season ago. Purdue emerged as the No. 2 spot. a No. 1 seed to fall short. Fairleigh Dickinson upset the Boilermakers in 2023, earning a 16 seed.

Wisconsin’s ranking as one of the top six seeds in the tournament should also be cemented by the win. Despite dropping their last three regular season games, the Badgers finished fifth in the Big Ten and advanced to the Big Ten tournament by defeating Northwestern and Maryland. With eight of their final 11 games lost prior to the postseason, the Badgers’ three-game tournament winning streak is quite the comeback.
