I’ve spent the last two weeks writing about how thin Samsung’s Galaxy S25 Edge is, but I figured I’d really show you, by comparing it to a few everyday items.
The Galaxy S25 Edge is 5.8mm thick and has a generous 6.7-inch display, just like the S25 Plus.
The price, however, is anything but light: The S25 Edge goes on sale May 30 for $1,100.
So, I had to see how the S25 Edge compares to a pencil too — and it turns out it’s also thinner.
And here’s the S25 Edge next to the 7.3mm-thick S25 Plus and 7.2mm-thick baseline S25.
I’ve been writing about how thin Samsung’s Galaxy S25 Edge is for the past two weeks, but I thought I’d give you a real example by contrasting it with some commonplace objects. After all, you’ve probably been itching to find out how the phone compares to a thin-crust pizza, right?
Like the S25 Plus, the Galaxy S25 Edge has a large 6 and a half-inch display and is 5 and a half millimeters thick. However, the Edge weighs only 163 grams, which makes it feel featherlight in my hand in contrast to the Plus’s 190 grams. The S25 Edge will retail for $1,100 when it goes on sale on May 30, so the price is anything but cheap. You may read my detailed review here. ).
But first, let’s take a look at some pictures to show how thin the S25 Edge is. Pizza, of course, to start.
I will freely admit that a New York slice is far superior to a San Francisco thin crust, but you have to make do with what you have before the New Yorkers come for me. The S25 Edge and a piece of cheese pizza are remarkably similar in thickness, as I discovered when I measured them against one another. The titanium frame of the S25 Edge, fortunately, makes it much less flexible. ).
The phone reminded me of a pile of pennies, too. When the camera bump is taken out of the equation, the S25 Edge is only four pennies thick.
A few more pennies will be needed for the camera bump. Although they aren’t very noticeable, the two rear cameras on the S25 Edge do add some bulk. The S25 Edge is roughly seven pennies thick when the camera module is included.
I was amazed to learn that the Tecno Spark Slim phone concept, which was 575 mm thick and thinner than a pencil, was unveiled at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona in March. I had to check how the S25 Edge compared to a pencil, and I discovered that it is thinner as well.
Here is how the S25 Edge stacks up against a thin Tate’s chocolate chip cookie (I don’t like crispy cookies, but I bought these for scientific reasons). I had to include one more food comparison. Indeed, it looks thinner than one of those horribly thin cookies.
Here’s how the S25 Edge stacks up against the Oppo Find N5 foldable, which is 4:21 mm thick when open, if you’d prefer to see a comparison of superskinny phones.
The S25 Edge is shown here next to the baseline S25, which is 7.2mm thick, and the S25 Plus, which is 7.3mm thick.
As a precaution, I’ll include a picture of the S25 Edge and S25 Plus side by side to highlight the differences between the two phones.
