Xiaomi’s most expensive tablet to date has been released. With its flagship-grade in-house chip, large battery, and 14-inch OLED screen, the Pad 7 Ultra is directly targeting the Galaxy Tab S10 Ultra. It also has a 16GB RAM + 1TB version, just like Samsung’s flagship tablet.

How does the Pad 7 Ultra stack up against the Galaxy Tab S10 Ultra in terms of specs, and what else does it offer?

Excellent specs set the Xiaomi Pad 7 Ultra up against the Galaxy Tab S10 Ultra.

The 14-inch OLED screen of the Pad 7 Ultra has 12-bit color, 2,136 x 3,200 pixel resolution (275 ppi), refresh rate of 120 Hz, and Gorilla Glass 5 protection. It has an 8-bit panel and a pixel density of 239 ppi, making it marginally sharper than the 14.6-inch 120Hz OLED screen of the Galaxy Tab S10 Ultra.

Like the Samsung tablet’s anti-reflective coating, Xiaomi’s new tablet has a nano-texture glass covering the screen to avoid reflections and glare. Nevertheless, the nano-textured glass is an optional and additional expense. It has both HDR10+ and Dolby Vision, whereas the Galaxy Tab S10 Ultra only has HDR10+. For people who have a rare sensitivity to screen flickering, it also has PWM dimming.

With magnetic wireless charging, both tablets can be charged using active styli. However, the Xiaomi Pad 7 Ultra stylus is an optional, extra-cost accessory, while the Galaxy Tab S10 Ultra comes with a S Pen stylus as standard.

While the Galaxy Tab S10 Ultra has four speakers, Xiaomi’s tablet has eight, but both support Dolby Atmos sound. How they compete with one another is still unknown. However, there is no 3point 5mm headphone jack on either tablet.

The XRING O1, the company’s first flagship in-house chip, is found in the Pad 7 Ultra. It has an Arm Immortalis-G925 GPU and a deca-core CPU on a 3nm chip. It has been discovered that its performance is comparable to that of the Snapdragon 8 Elite. It has more power than the Galaxy Tab S10 Ultra’s Dimensity 9300+ chip.

Like the Galaxy Tab S10 Ultra, Xiaomi’s tablet has 12GB/16GB of RAM and 256GB/512GB/1TB of storage. However, a microSD card slot on the Galaxy Tab S10 Ultra is a bonus for users who prefer simpler file transfers and backups.

120W fast charging is available for the Pad 7 Ultra’s 12,000mAh battery. The charging speed is significantly faster than the 45W charging of the Galaxy Tab S10 Ultra, even though the battery capacity is only 7% greater than that of Samsung’s device.

The Pad 7 Ultra’s rear is equipped with a 50MP camera that records 4K 60 frames per second. The 13MP camera with 4K 30 frames per second is located on the back of the Galaxy Tab S10 Ultra. The additional 8MP ultrawide camera on Samsung’s tablet might be helpful to some.

Only 1080p 30 frames per second video recording is supported by the Xiaomi Pad 7 Ultra’s 32MP front-facing camera, which uses a smaller sensor. Clearly superior is the Galaxy Tab S10 Ultra’s 12MP+12MP dual-camera setup on the front, which features a larger wide-angle sensor and 4K 30fps video recording.

Although the back and frame of both tablets are made of aluminum, Xiaomi’s tablet lacks the IP68 rating for dust and water resistance that the Galaxy Tab S10 Ultra and its S Pen have. The Pad 7 Ultra has a side-mounted fingerprint reader, whereas the Samsung device has an in-display fingerprint reader.

Both gadgets feature a USB 3.2 Type-C port, Bluetooth, and Wi-Fi 7. As extras, the Pad 7 Ultra has an IR port, NFC, and a more recent version of Bluetooth (v5.4). However, a crucial feature that Xiaomi’s flagship tablet lacks is cellular connectivity, which Samsung’s tablet has.

The 256GB version of Xiaomi’s first Ultra tablet costs CNY 5,700 ($800), while the 1TB model (without a nano-texture screen) costs CNY 6,800 ($950). It costs at least $200 less than the Galaxy Tab S10 Ultra at MSRP in China.

But it’s important to keep in mind that costs are always lower in China, and price increases significantly whenever a Chinese brand’s device is introduced in the USA or Europe. Therefore, when the Xiaomi Pad 7 Ultra is released in western markets, we won’t be shocked if the prices of these tablets are comparable. However, it appears that the tablet will not even be released in the United States.
