Discover the latest stock availability for Nintendo Switch 2 consoles and games

The Nintendo Switch 2 is finally a thing you can buy in the US.
So before you call it quits, check if a nearby Target, GameStop, Walmart or Best Buy — the four official retailers Nintendo lists on its store page — still has consoles in stock.
Amazon doesn’t have any form of Switch 2 listing on its website, nor does it list first-party Switch 2 games like Mario Kart World and Donkey Kong Bananza.
The same goes for games like Mario Kart World and the Switch 2 version of The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom.

Finally available for purchase in the United States is the Nintendo Switch 2. On June 5, the $450 console was formally put up for sale at midnight ET. A number of retailers are selling the device both online and in-store. As expected, online inventory has quickly run out and is still extremely scarce as of late Friday afternoon. The most recent console we saw was offered by Costco, but in order to use it, you must have a membership. The precise timing of wider restocks is unknown, but they will occur eventually.

Overall, it appears that going to a physical retail location during launch week has increased people’s luck. Although there is no guarantee that you will be able to obtain one in that manner, some Engadget employees were able to obtain a Switch 2 on Thursday at their neighborhood Target or GameStop without placing a pre-order. Therefore, before you give up, see if any of the four official retailers listed by Nintendo on its store page—Target, GameStop, Walmart, or Best Buy—still have consoles in stock.

We’ve compiled all of the information we could find about where to buy the Nintendo Switch 2 and how to purchase it, in case you’re still looking for Nintendo’s newest gadget.

What stores sell the Nintendo Switch 2?

As of our most recent update, Nintendo’s Mario Kart World bundle and the console alone are both sold out. Walmart opened online sales at midnight ET on June 5. Of course, the console is also available for purchase at the biggest retailer in the world’s physical stores. Although the company has noted that inventory will vary by location and quantities are limited, it’s still worth checking to see if any nearby stores still have devices available.

On June 5, Target launched the Switch 2 in-store. Although the console might be sold out by the time you read this, the retailer cautioned that supply will be limited and that you should still check the nearest stores. Anecdotally, on Thursday at 4:15 PM ET, Billy Steele of Engadget managed to pick up a Switch 2 at a Target located just outside of Greensboro, North Carolina.

On Friday, June 6, the business replenished its online inventory at approximately 3:30 AM ET. However, those listings have since run out of stock after being live for at least a few hours, which is longer than we would have anticipated.

GameStop advertised in-store availability and hosted launch events on Wednesday; however, this will again depend on the location. At a GameStop store in the New York City area on Thursday morning, Engadget’s Cherlynn Low was able to purchase the console without placing a preorder. The manager of that specific location informed Low that inventory at other stores would vary depending on population, even though there were just under 80 units available.

At this time, GameStop’s website does not have the device available. Compared to the standard SKUs, a $625 bundle that comes with Mario Kart World, a microSD Express card, and a few other accessories has been in and out of stock more frequently, but it’s currently sold out (and kind of a raw deal whatever). If you can afford the additional expense, it might be worth bookmarking, as we briefly witnessed its return on Thursday afternoon. In the meantime, the listings for the Mario Kart bundle and base console now direct users to a “Find a Store” page.

Best Buy announced that it would have limited inventory at its retail locations beginning on June 5 and hosted in-store launch events. However, during the week of launch, the console is not being sold online.

Only customers who had Verizon service were able to place orders for the Switch 2, which was briefly available on Thursday morning before drying up.

Mario Kart World and Donkey Kong Bananza are examples of first-party Switch 2 games that are not mentioned on Amazon’s website. Since the company did not accept pre-orders for the Switch 2, it is uncertain whether or not the device will be available for purchase.

Although the Switch 2 has been on Newegg’s website for a few weeks, the company has not provided an estimated time of launch.

The Mario Kart World bundle is more readily available online than the base console, which is $50 less expensive, thanks to all of these retailers. However, that might not be the worst thing because Mario Kart is the most popular launch game for the Switch 2 and costs $80 on its own.

A list of all the Switch 2 retail listings we were able to locate is provided below. Just note that this is not a list of all the locations where the device is currently available; rather, it is intended to serve as a reference.

In addition to the Switch 2, Nintendo is also selling a variety of accessories, such as controllers, cases, and cameras for its brand-new GameChat function. Additionally, the majority of these were made available on June 5. Mario Kart World and the Switch 2 version of The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom are examples of games that fall into this category. You can pre-order Donkey Kong Bananza, another significant Switch 2 release, today, but it won’t be available until mid-July.

By late Friday afternoon, almost every Switch 2 game was still accessible. The accessories are a little harder to find, but the majority of the devices are still sold at several stores. The official Switch 2 carrying cases from Nintendo appear to be the exception right now.
