It’s been more than two months since the start of NFL free agency and Aaron Rodgers is still on the market.
The quarterback said that he hasn’t really been focusing on football this offseason because he’s been dealing with some “personal issues.”
Rodgers didn’t specifically mention what his personal issues are, but during an appearance on Joe Rogan’s podcast this week, the 41-year-old appeared to offer more details.
Although Rodgers hasn’t signed with the Steelers yet, there does seem to be a sense that it will eventually happen.
O’Connor said that he believes that Rodgers’ personal issues will be at a point where he’ll finally be comfortable enough to return to the field.
Over two months have passed since NFL free agency began, and Aaron Rodgers is still available. As of right now, the four-time MVP has not given any indications as to whether he will play football in 2025, despite visiting Pittsburgh in March.
In an interview with Pat McAfee in April, Rodgers did provide an explanation for his continued lack of a contract. Because of some “personal issues,” the quarterback claimed he hasn’t really been concentrating on football this offseason. “.
According to NFL . com, Rodgers stated, “I have a couple people in my inner, inner circle who are battling some difficult stuff.”. “So, I have been away from football since the beginning of January due to a lot of things that are consuming my attention. I’ve been concentrating most of my attention there. “..”.
During an appearance on Joe Rogan’s podcast this week, 41-year-old Rodgers seemed to provide more details about his personal problems, though he did not specifically address them. Rodgers revealed that he has close relationships with a number of cancer patients during a medical discussion with Rogan.
“I’ve been dealing with these close friends and family members who have cancer for the past year, and I figured it out,” Rodgers said.
Undoubtedly, that would be sufficient to divert his attention from football.
Despite the fact that Rodgers hasn’t signed with the Steelers yet, there is a feeling that it will happen eventually. According to Ian O’Connor, who recently penned a biography of Rodgers, the quarterback will sign with Pittsburgh before the team’s required minicamp begins on June 10.
On The PM Team with Poni and Mueller, O’Connor recently stated, “I do think there will be a happy ending, at least for him, and we will find out for the Steelers and their fan base.”. “I believe he will be in uniform on June 10th for the start of the required minicamp if I were to put down $100. “.
O’Connor stated that he thinks Rodgers’ personal problems will eventually reach a stage where he will feel secure enough to play again. Rodgers made it apparent in the McAfee interview that he would not be playing football until his personal issues were resolved.
Rodgers stated, “I’m open to anything and attached to nothing.”. Although retirement is still a possibility, my personal life has been and will remain my top priority at the moment. I’ve informed the coaches of this. However, discussions are still taking place. All of the communication has been very open. “.

The Steelers will probably try their hardest to persuade Rodgers to sign before training camp begins if he doesn’t do so before the start of mandatory minicamp. Fortunately, the Steelers will have plenty of time to accomplish that. After minicamp, they will have about six weeks off before training camp begins in late July.
