There were no injuries reported after two shootings near the JBSA-Lackland training annex entry gate

SAN ANTONIO – Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland officials said its security officers returned fire on shooters who attempted to gain entry through the main gate at the JBSA-Chapman Training Annex.
After the first incident, SAPD said more armed Air Force security officers were added to the entrance gate as a precaution.
Around 4:30 a.m., according to base officials, a vehicle stopped on Medina Base Road located east of the JBSA-Chapman Training Annex gate.
After the JBSA-Chapman Training Annex entry gate was closed due to a shooting investigation, the gate has since reopened.
KSAT witnessed cars entering the gate to the training annex around 10:45 a.m.

SAN ANTONIO: Security guards at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland opened fire on assailants who tried to enter the JBSA-Chapman Training Annex through the main gate, according to officials from the establishment.

According to San Antonio police, the first incident occurred at 2:15 a.m. M. Saturday.

Not only were they fired at, but multiple shots were also heard, according to Air Force security guards stationed at the entry gate at Ray Ellison Boulevard and Medina Base Road.

More armed Air Force security guards were reportedly added to the entrance gate as a precaution following the initial incident, according to SAPD.

Subsequent to its closure for an investigation into a shooting, the JBSA-Chapman Training Annex entry gate has reopened.

The number of shooters who attempted to enter the training annex gate, whether the same suspects were involved in both shooting incidents, and whether any individuals were detained are all unknown at this time.

KSAT requested surveillance footage from a local company and a Northside ISD school for both shooting incidents, but neither of them claimed that their footage showed what happened.

KSAT has not received a response from JBSA-Lackland regarding its request for more information.

The SAPD reported that it is still looking into both incidents.
