There is a display of the Olympic rings on the Eiffel Tower

PARIS (AP) — The Paris Olympics organizers on Friday unveiled a display of the five Olympic rings mounted on the Eiffel Tower as the French capital marks 50 days until the start of the Summer Games.
The structure of rings, made of recycled French steel, was displayed on the south side of the 135-year-old landmark in central Paris, overlooking the Seine River.
Thousands of athletes will parade through the heart of the French capital on boats on the Seine along a 6-kilometer (3.7-mile) route in the opening ceremony at sunset on July 26.
There will be no shortage of iconic venues at the Paris Olympics.
The tower, nicknamed La Dame de Fer (The Iron Lady), will feature prominently in the July 26-Aug. 11 Paris Games and the following Paralympics.
The Olympic and Paralympic medals in Paris are being embedded with pieces from a hexagonal chunk of iron taken from the tower.
The Olympic rings will be illuminated every night with 100,000 LED bulbs through the Paralympic Games that start Aug. 28, 17 days after the Olympics’ closing ceremony.
Many sports will take place near landmarks including the Eiffel Tower, Versailles and the Grand Palais.

PARIS (AP) — With 50 days to go before the Summer Games begin in the French capital, the organizers of the Paris Olympics unveiled a display on Friday featuring the five Olympic rings that are affixed to the Eiffel Tower.

The 135-year-old landmark in the heart of Paris, with a view of the Seine River, had a structure made of recycled French steel on display to the south. The diameter of each ring is 30 feet (9 meters).

At the opening ceremony at sunset on July 26, thousands of athletes will parade along a 6-kilometer (3.77-mile) route on boats on the Seine through the heart of the French capital.

The Olympics in Paris will feature a plethora of iconic locations.

The tower, also known as La Dame de Fer, or The Iron Lady, will be a major attraction in the July 26–August. 11th Paris Olympics and the subsequent Paralympic Games.

At the base of the 330-meter (1,083-foot) monument, volleyball players of both sexes will compete. At the temporary Eiffel Tower Stadium on the Champ de Mars, where locals and visitors enjoy picnics on the grass or firework shows on July 14, nearly 13,000 spectators will be present to watch them.

Parts of a hexagon-shaped piece of iron that was removed from the tower are being inserted into the Olympic and Paralympic medals in Paris.

A surge in visitors has been observed to this immensely popular landmark in central Paris in the run-up to the 2024 Games.

The 30-ton structure was lifted and mounted between the tower’s first and second floors over the course of Friday night using two enormous cranes.

Through the Paralympic Games, which begin in August, 100,000 LED bulbs will be used to illuminate the Olympic rings every night. 28, 17 days following the Olympics’ medal ceremony.

4,400 athletes from 180 countries will compete in 549 events across 22 sports at the Paralympics. Near famous sites like Versailles, the Grand Palais, and the Eiffel Tower, a number of sporting events will take place.
