The National Weather Service predicts that a winter storm could dump up to 14 more inches of snow on the Front Range foothills overnight, making for extremely hazardous driving conditions.

A winter storm that dumped several feet of snow along the Front Range mountains and foothills caused crashes, spin-outs, and dangerous driving conditions, leading to the closure of Interstate 70 in both directions for the duration of the day.

The organization just before 1 p.m. on Friday said that I-70 between Eagle/Vail and Morrison will be closed to commercial traffic until noon. M. Thursday.

According to CDOT, there may be a closure of Interstate 25 over Monument Hill on Thursday night due to safety concerns.

At approximately 12:35 p.m., state officials issued a travel advisory citing the current storm track. M. advising motorists to stock their cars with food, water, blankets, and other necessities in case of prolonged delays or closures of the highway.

According to state transportation officials, drivers in the mountains, foothills, and Denver metro area should expect hazardous or impossible driving conditions through Friday morning. It’s likely that I-70, I-25, and U.S. s. 285.

A 33-year-old man was taken into custody for disobeying a road closure on U. S. 40 over Berthoud Pass, dodging police and then colliding with a snow plow, as per the Grand County Sheriff’s Office investigation.

After the man failed to stop at the road closure, a Grand County sergeant attempted to pull him over, but he managed to get away. The man then struck a snow plow that was trying to protect other cars approximately five miles east of the top of Berthoud Pass, according to the sheriff’s office.

The man attempted to escape on foot but was apprehended on unrelated arrest warrant and traffic charges.
