Brazil’s President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva has been discharged from hospital after undergoing emergency surgery for a brain bleed, doctors said.
Lula was taken to hospital on Monday after he had complained of a severe headache.
The brain bleed, or intracranial haemorrhage, was caused by a blow to the head he sustained when he fell in his bathroom at the presidential residence in October, according to a hospital statement.
They also insisted that he had not sustained any brain injury and was not experiencing after-effects from the surgery.
The doctors said the bleeding was a result of the fall Lula had sustained in October.
According to medical professionals, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, the president of Brazil, was released from the hospital following emergency surgery for a brain hemorrhage.
At São Paulo’s Sírio-Libanês hospital, the 79-year-old made an appearance at a press conference with his medical staff.
“This is just a thank-you session; it is not an interview. I want to start by giving thanks to God, who has provided for me so generously,” he said.
Lula complained of a terrible headache on Monday, so he was brought to the hospital.
The president underwent a craniotomy, a surgical procedure in which a portion of the skull’s bone is removed, in order to treat the bleeding and relieve pressure. Next, the bone is substituted.
According to a hospital statement, the blow to his head that he received when he fell in his bathroom at the presidential residence in October was the cause of the intracranial hemorrhage, or brain bleed.
Lula added on Sunday, “Thank you very much for the prayers.”. “And you’re forgiven if you only have hate. I’m alive, whole, and more motivated to work now. “.”.
Doctors reported on Tuesday that the president was conscious and in a stable state after the surgery.
“Lucid” and talking to medical personnel, they added.
They also maintained that he was not recuperating from the surgery and had not suffered any brain damage.
Doctors had responded that if all went well, Lula should be back in Brasilia “next week” when asked when he would return to the capital.
Geraldo Alckmin, the vice president, assumed some of the president’s responsibilities while Lula was in the hospital.
According to the doctors, Lula’s October fall was the cause of the bleeding.
They clarified that issues resulting from a head injury happening “months later” was not uncommon.
