Nikki Haley, the former U.S. ambassador to the United Nations, said she doesn’t always agree with former President Donald Trump’s communications, style or approach, but she backs his policies.
In an interview with CBS News’ “Face the Nation with Margaret Brennan” that will air Sunday, Haley was asked by Brennan about Trump’s comments, which followed his brief appearance in a federal appeals court.
Brennan asked Haley if airing grievances about women is the best use of Trump’s time, and what kind of message it sends to women voters.
“Well, I think the focus for me is on policy,” Haley replied, as Brennan noted that Trump is the Republican presidential nominee.
“And I’ve always said, ‘look, if I thought Biden or Trump were great candidates, I wouldn’t have run for president,'” Haley said.
“I think he is the Republican nominee,” Haley replied.
Now, do I agree with his style, do I agree with his approach, do I agree with his communications?
But on policy, Haley said, she said she agrees with Trump on a lot.
Haley also told Brennan she hasn’t been asked to campaign for Trump and isn’t advising him or his campaign, but she remains “on standby.”
At the Republican convention, she offered her “strong endorsement” of Trump, even though Trump and Haley have offered harsh assessments of each other in the past.
Haley, the former U.S. S. although she supports former President Donald Trump’s policies, the ambassador to the UN stated that she doesn’t always agree with his communications, style, or approach. She was talking about Trump’s lengthy Friday remarks in which he criticized author E. Jean Carroll and other women who have accused him of assault or other sexual misbehavior.
Haley was questioned by Margaret Brennan of CBS News’ “Face the Nation with Margaret Brennan” about Trump’s remarks, which came after his quick appearance before a federal appeals court, in an interview that will air on Sunday. In order to challenge a $5 million ruling holding him accountable for sexually abusing and defaming Carroll, the former president appeared in court. Brennan questioned Haley about the impression it gives female voters and whether it is the best use of Trump’s time for her to air grievances about women.
Brennan pointed out that Trump is the Republican nominee for president. Haley responded, “Well, I think the focus for me is on policy.”.
Haley continued, “And I’ve always said, ‘Look, I wouldn’t have run for president if I thought Biden or Trump were great candidates.'”. “I envisioned myself as a better employee, so I ran. “.
“You don’t think he’s a good candidate?” Brennan asked again.
As for the Republican nominee, Haley said, “I believe he is.”. Furthermore, I don’t think it’s a question to pit him against the Democratic nominee, Kamala Harris. Currently, I cannot say that I agree with his communications style, method, or approach. “.
However, Haley stated that she largely agrees with Trump on matters of policy.
“We have been given these candidates,” stated Haley.
Haley also informed Brennan that she is “on standby” and has not been asked to endorse Trump, nor is she offering advice to him or his campaign. “.
The former Republican presidential candidate claimed to have offered assistance to Trump when they spoke in June. Despite Trump and Haley’s previous criticism of one another, she gave her “strong endorsement” of Trump at the Republican convention.
The former governor of South Carolina remarked, “You know, he knows I’m on standby.”. “Back in June, I spoke with him. He knows that I’m prepared to help him out if he needs it in the future. ****.
