Here’s how to watch the debate: What time is the debate?
ABC News is carrying the debate live on its broadcast network as well as its streaming platform ABC News Live, Disney+ and Hulu.
The second general election debate of this cycle is taking place at the National Constitution Center in Philadelphia.
Two candidates — Harris and Trump — will be on stage, and it’ll be the first time that they’ve ever met.
It’s also Harris’ first debate since 2020, when she and Trump’s running mate — then-Vice President Mike Pence — debated through plexiglass shields during the COVID-19 pandemic.
With Biden’s departure from the campaign after the first debate, there was some concern whether Trump and Harris would be facing off at all.
As the vice president wound her way from Biden’s running mate to Democratic nominee, Trump said he had made his initial debate agreement with Biden, inserting doubt into whether he would meet Harris on a debate stage.
CBS News will host a vice presidential debate on Oct. 1 between Walz and Trump’s running mate, Ohio Sen. JD Vance.

WASHINGTON (AP) — The 2024 campaign season’s second general election debate has arrived, but it’s the first between the current nominees.

The debate in Philadelphia on Tuesday night features former president Donald Trump and vice president Kamala Harris. Following a dismal showing in the first general election debate of this cycle in June, President Joe Biden withdrew from the race for reelection, completely upending the final months of the campaign and initiating the fast-paced process that enabled Harris to emerge as the Democratic nominee in his stead.

To watch the debate, follow these instructions:.

What time does the discussion start?

Start time for the debate is 9:00 p.m. m. EDT on Tuesday, with a 90-minute duration anticipated. David Muir of “World News Tonight” and Linsey Davis of “Prime” are moderating it.

Where is the discussion taking place on the channel?

ABC News is streaming the debate live on ABC News Live, Disney+, Hulu, and its broadcast network. Additionally, a number of networks have consented to broadcast the event live.

Where is the discussion taking place?

In Philadelphia at the National Constitution Center, there will be this cycle’s second general election debate. There won’t be an audience present, just like there wasn’t for the June debate.

Being the top swing state in the country, Pennsylvania has seen a lot of campaigning from both candidates. Midway through July, Trump was conducting a rally in Butler, western Pennsylvania, when a gunman positioned on a nearby rooftop almost killed him. Harris decided to introduce Minnesota Gov. in Philadelphia. a running mate in August in Tim Walz.

Four years after Trump had won the state, Pennsylvania’s electoral votes in 2020 helped Joe Biden win and take office. After more than three days of uncertainty caused by the Trump campaign’s multiple legal challenges and election officials sorting through a large number of mail-in votes that delayed the processing of some ballots, Biden’s win finally came.

Which applicants are going to take the stage?

There will be two candidates on stage, Harris and Trump, who have never met before. Additionally, it’s Harris’ first debate since the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, when she and Trump’s running mate, then-Vice President Mike Pence, engaged in a debate behind plexiglass shields.

There was some uncertainty as to whether Trump and Harris would actually debate after Biden withdrew from the campaign following the first one. There was uncertainty about whether Trump would face Harris in a debate when the vice president, who had been Biden’s running mate, shifted to become the Democratic nominee.

Then there was the controversy surrounding the microphones being muted during a candidate’s turn to speak, which was a requirement set by Biden’s campaign in order to participate in any debates this year. Some of Trump’s aides have expressed regret for the choice, claiming that voters were kept in the dark about his outbursts. Although Trump stated he would prefer to have microphones “probably on,” his campaign agreed to have the same mic mute during the June debate with Biden, despite Harris’s insistence that all microphones be live.

The rules for mic muting, the absence of a live audience, and written notes are all the same in the current ABC framework for the second debate.

Currently, there is no consensus among the contenders regarding the scheduling of a second debate.

And what comes next?

On October 19, a vice presidential debate will be hosted by CBS News. 1 between Ohio Senator John Kasich and Walz, Trump’s running mate. J.D. Vance. That is scheduled to take place in New York City.
