Costco workers are set to strike on February 1, as per the Teamsters union

More than 18,000 Costco workers will be walking picket lines in less than two weeks if a labor dispute over wages and benefits is not resolved, according to the Teamsters union.
Members voted by an 85% margin to authorize a strike when their current contract expires on Jan. 31, the union announced on Sunday.
“From Day 1, we’ve told Costco that our members won’t work a day past January 31 without a historic, industry-leading agreement.
The Teamsters declined to specify what compensation and benefits it is seeking for the workers.
In readying for the potential strike, hundreds of Costco Teamsters nationwide last week practiced pickets from Hayward, California, to Long Island, New York, according to the union.

The Teamsters union says that if a labor dispute over wages and benefits is not settled, more than 18,000 Costco employees will be picking up picket lines in less than two weeks.

The Teamsters declined to elaborate on the benefits and pay they are requesting for their employees.

The wholesale behemoth revealed $7.4 billion in net profits and $250 billion in yearly revenue in late September.

Hundreds of Costco Teamsters nationwide practiced pickets last week from Hayward, California, to Long Island, New York, in preparation for the possible strike, the union said.

Requests for comments were not immediately answered by Costco, which runs 897 warehouses, including 617 in the US and Puerto Rico.
