Social media personality Andrew Tate was put on house arrest in Romania after he and five others, including his brother, were brought into custody amid a human trafficking and sexual exploitation investigation.
The DIICOT asked the Bucharest court to arrest the brothers for 30 days, instead, a judge placed Andrew Tate under house arrest and Tristan Tate under judiciary control for the same period, their rep Mateea Petrescu wrote in a statement, per Reuters.

Due to the 2023 charges, the brothers were given a travel ban prohibiting them from leaving Romania.

During the 32-minute livestream, Andrew Tate said the DIICOT took their studio equipment and “stole as much wealth as possible.”
Tristan Tate said during the livestream that no “new charges” were brought against the brothers.
The influencers and many of their supporters have claimed the women are liars and that the Tate brothers’ charges will be dropped.

Following his apprehension along with five other individuals, including his brother, in the course of an investigation into human trafficking and sexual exploitation, social media star Andrew Tate was placed under house arrest in Romania.
Tate, a former professional kickboxer with almost 10 million X fans, and his brother Tristan Tate were arrested on Wednesday and held for a full day following searches of four homes in the Bucharest municipality and Ilfov County by Romania’s anti-organized crime prosecuting unit DIICOT.
The siblings’ representative Mateea Petrescu wrote in a statement, citing Reuters, that the DIICOT had requested that the Bucharest court hold the brothers for 30 days. However, the judge instead put Andrew Tate under house arrest and Tristan Tate under judiciary control.
The statement went on, saying, “The Tates applaud the decision and vehemently deny all allegations leveled against them, emphasizing that the accusations are baseless and unsupported by substantial evidence.”.
For human trafficking, the Tate brothers were indicted in 2023.
In 2023, the Tate brothers were charged with human trafficking, rape, and organizing a criminal organization to deceive and rape women. The two Romanian women faced similar charges. These claims have not been accepted by the brothers.
The brothers are banned from traveling and are not allowed to leave Romania as a result of the 2023 charges.

A $5 million civil lawsuit against two women involved in the Romanian case and some of their outcry witnesses is underway as the Tate brothers continue to refute the accusations made against them. The lawsuit was filed in July of 2023. The women are being accused by the brothers of defamation, conspiracy, and false imprisonment.
Many of the influencers’ followers have stated that the Tate brothers’ charges will be dropped and that the women are lying.
“There’s just this deluge of tweets around the time of the lawsuit filing,” stated Dani Pinter, a legal counsel for the National Center on Sexual Exploitation and an attorney for one of the women. It’s the most extreme instance of targeted harassment I’ve ever witnessed. She repeats her name and face repeatedly, as if they were her own.
