A 48-year-old man was arrested in connection to the , the Seattle Police Department announced Wednesday.
The deadly carjacking happened just before 10 a.m. Tuesday near Martin Luther King Jr. Way East and East Harrison Street.
, SPD Deputy Chief Eric Barden said 48-year-old Seattle resident Jahmed Haynes was arrested by members of the SWAT team earlier that morning.
Haynes had a bloody knife and keys to Dalton’s vehicle on him at the time of his arrest.
One neighbor said their dog, which was in the stolen vehicle, was found about a mile away from the carjacking scene.
Just after 3 p.m. Tuesday, Barden said citizens reported that a man was hurting a dog at Brighton Playfield.
A Seattle Animal Control officer responded to the scene and found a dog that had been stabbed to death.
Additional SPD officers were dispatched to the park and located Dalton’s unoccupied vehicle which had been stolen earlier that day.
