An NBA finals berth is at stake in the playoff matchup between the Indiana Pacers and the New York Knicks. The Knicks defeated the Boston Celtics, the defending champions, in six games in the second round to advance to the East finals for the first time since 2000. In the first round, the Knicks defeated the Detroit Pistons in six games, and Jalen Brunson has been outstanding all playoffs. Brunson has been excellent in the fourth quarter and is averaging 28 points per game in the 2025 postseason.
To get here, the Pacers defeated the Cleveland Cavaliers and Milwaukee Bucks in five games. Indiana advanced to the Eastern Conference finals last season after defeating the Knicks in the second round, but the Celtics swept them.
Since the Pacers defeated the Knicks in the East finals to advance to the NBA Finals in 2000, they have not been to the Finals. Since the year 1999, the Knicks have not advanced to the NBA Finals. To get there, they obviously defeated the Pacers in the East finals.
