Uche Ojeh, the husband of NBC Today co-anchor Sheinelle Jones, has died at age 45 after battling an aggressive form of brain cancer.
The news was announced on the NBC morning show Friday.
“With profound sadness, we share this morning that Uche Ojeh, the husband of our friend and Today co-host Sheinelle Jones, has passed away after a courageous battle with an aggressive form of brain cancer called glioblastoma,” Savannah Guthrie said on the program.
Jones has been with the Today show for more than a decade, joining the morning program’s weekend edition in 2014.
Jones married Ojeh in 2007 after meeting at Northwestern University, where Jones was a freshman giving tours and Ojeh was a visiting high school senior.

Ojeh left Jones and their three kids behind when he passed away at the age of 45. He spent over ten years working as a consultant for UAO Consulting. Craig Melvin, co-anchor of Today, revealed over the show that he last played golf with Ojeh last fall, following the devastating news.

Melvin recalled, “We talked about just life in general a lot.”. Additionally, he frequently brought up those children in his conversations. More than anything else in the world, he was incredibly proud of those children. He was that dad who watched every soccer match from the sidelines. He attended every recital and concert. In January, Jones announced that she was taking a leave of absence to address a family health issue, and she has been off the NBC morning show since December.
Jones joined the weekend edition of the morning show in 2014, and he has been with the Today show for over ten years. In 2019, she was appointed co-host of the third hour of the show, collaborating with NBC News and Dylan Dreyer, Craig Melvin, and other program talent.
