Washington — The White House unveiled a new portrait of President Trump on Monday, showing him in a slightly different light than the portrait released ahead of his inauguration in January.
In the latest portrait, Mr. Trump wears his signature red tie and his face is accentuated by deep shadowing.
The earlier photograph had the American flag in the background, while Mr. Trump is featured in front of a black backdrop in the newer version.
Both photographs were taken by chief White House photographer Daniel Torok.
A White House official told CBS News that the updated portrait will soon replace the official photographs of Mr. Trump that have already been hung in federal buildings and offices.

Washington — On Monday, the White House unveiled a new portrait of President Trump that displays him in a slightly different light than the one that was made public prior to his January inauguration.

Deep shadowing highlights Mr. Trump’s face in the most recent portrait, which features him wearing his trademark red tie.

Mr. Trump wore a blue tie and his face was brighter in the portrait that his presidential transition office released earlier this year. Mr. Trump is shown in front of a black backdrop in the most recent image, whereas the American flag was in the background of the earlier one.

Daniel Torok, the chief White House photographer, took both images.

On Monday, the White House released a brief video showing the new portrait hanging in the Eisenhower Executive Office Building, but it provided no explanation for the change.

The official photos of Mr. Trump that are currently displayed in federal buildings and offices will soon be replaced by the updated portrait, a White House official told CBS News.

The White House’s website already has the updated version.

In front of an American flag, Mr. Trump is shown wearing a blue tie and grinning widely in the official portrait from his first term.
