Donald Trump, the president of the United States, has strongly condemned the alleged beheading of an Indian hotel manager in Dallas last week by an illegal Cuban immigrant.

Trump wrote, “Under my watch, the time for being lenient toward these illegal immigrant criminals is OVER,” in a post on his Truth Social platform.

After a furious dispute over a malfunctioning washing machine, 50-year-old Chandra Mouli Nagamallaiah was macheted by his coworker Yordanis Cobos-Martinez in front of his wife and child. The defendant is currently being held on murder charges.

It is a key component of Trump’s policy, as he has long promised stricter enforcement against undocumented migrants.

Mr. Cobos-Martinez will be “charged with murder in the first degree” and “prosecuted to the fullest extent” of the law, according to Trump.

In his post, he also targeted the Biden administration, claiming that Mr. Cobos-Martinez had been “released back into society because Cuba declined to accept his return” after being arrested for a number of offenses, including alleged child abuse.

Mr. Cobos-Martinez has a final order of removal from the United States and is an undocumented immigrant, according to the Department of Homeland Security.

According to the department, Cuba “would not accept him because of his criminal history” and he was released on an order of supervision in January after being held at a detention facility within Dallas.

A native of Karnataka, a state in southern India, Nagamallaiah was employed at the Downtown Suites Motel in Dallas.

After attending school and college in Bengaluru, a city in southern India, he immigrated to the United States in 2018. According to a report on the NDTV news channel, his son recently received his high school diploma and is getting ready to start college.

The attack happened on September 10. Police claimed to have received a “stabbing” call, and an initial investigation found that Mr. Cobos-Martinez had repeatedly slashed the victim with an edged weapon.

The Dallas County Jail is holding Mr. Cobos-Martinez after receiving a complaint from US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).

Family and friends attended Nagamallaiah’s funeral, which took place in Flower Mound, Texas, on September 13.

News agency PTI reports that over $321,000 (£2,36,723) has been raised by a fundraiser started to help his family.
