Anna Grace Phelan, a young TikTok star who documented her stage 4 brain cancer journey, died Friday, according to a message posted to her TikTok account.
Phelan graduated high school in May 2024, and days before starting her freshman year of college, was diagnosed with an inoperable stage 4 malignant brain tumor, a GoFundMe for her states.
Phelan posted an update video stating that on Sept. 5, she was diagnosed with stage 4 glioblastoma, a highly aggressive brain tumor.
She is survived by her parents, William “Buddy” and Nadine Phelan, a brother, Harper David Phelan, and other family members.
A funeral service will be held Thursday at Galilee Christian Church, of which Anna Phelan was a member.
A message on Anna Grace Phelan’s TikTok account announced her passing on Friday. Phelan was a young TikTok celebrity who chronicled her experience with stage 4 brain cancer.
Her age was 19.
According to a statement from her family, “We are deeply saddened to announce that our lovely daughter, Anna Grace Phelan, has returned home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.”.
Phelan, who is from Jefferson, Georgia, posted health updates to her more than 100,000 followers, and her videos received millions of views.
The post said, “So many of you have followed her journey through a difficult battle with cancer and bore witness to her powerful testimony of faith.”.
Phelan’s GoFundMe page states that she graduated from high school in May 2024, but just days before she began her freshman year of college, she received a diagnosis of an inoperable stage 4 malignant brain tumor.
In August, she posted a medical update on TikTok, stating that she had been experiencing a variety of symptoms, beginning with numbness in her right leg and left side of her face for a few weeks. She had a brain lesion discovered by an MRI, which was biopsied to check for cancer.
In a September update video, Phelan said. 5, she was found to have stage 4 glioblastoma, a brain tumor that is extremely aggressive.
“By all means, this is the hardest news I’ve ever received,” she stated in the video. “It’s not simple. All I’m going to do is put my faith in the Lord and keep moving forward. “,”.
She kept sharing updates on her medical journey, including physical therapy and her steroid and radiation treatments.
During one of her final update videos on May 14, Phelan stated that her health had deteriorated and that her tumor had grown to the point where surgery was no longer an option.
She declared, “I’m not giving up yet, but it would take a miracle to fix me here on earth.”.
In her obituary, Phelan stated that she was employed at Georgia Skin Cancer and Aesthetic Dermatology as a receptionist.
Her brother Harper David Phelan, parents William “Buddy” and Nadine Phelan, and other family members survive her. Galilee Christian Church, where Anna Phelan was a member, will host a funeral service on Thursday.
In a statement, her family thanked everyone for the thousands of prayers for peace and healing.
