In particular, the base model now finally has a 120 Hz refresh rate display, a big upgrade when compared to the 60 Hz panel found in the last-gen non-Pro phone.
Noting the shift in terms of the display on the base iPhone 17, Li Jie Louis, OnePlus’s president, has hinted that the upcoming OnePlus 15 will feature an “ultra-high” refresh rate display.
While Li Jie Louis didn’t specifically reveal anything, per recent reports, the OnePlus 15 is expected to sport a 165 Hz refresh rate.
For example, the Asus ROG Phone 9 series has phones with 185 Hz refresh rate displays.
However, it’s worth noting that most of the other non-gaming Chinese flagship phones have been sticking with 120 Hz screens, and Li Jie notes that the “ultra-high” refresh rate display of the OnePlus 15 will start a new trend in the industry.
There are a few improvements over the previous models of the Apple iPhone 17 series phones. Specifically, the base model now boasts a 120 Hz refresh rate display, which is a significant improvement over the 60 Hz panel found in the previous generation of non-Pro phones.
The president of OnePlus, Li Jie Louis, has alluded to the upcoming OnePlus 15’s “ultra-high” refresh rate display by pointing out the change in the base iPhone 17’s display. The company’s flagship Snapdragon 8 Elite, which is currently in production, has a 120 Hz panel for comparison.
According to recent reports, the OnePlus 15 is anticipated to have a refresh rate of 165 Hz, even though Li Jie Louis made no specific announcements. Naturally, this is not a first for smartphones; some models have screens with even faster refresh rates.
For instance, phones with 185 Hz refresh rate displays are part of the Asus ROG Phone 9 series. Li Jie points out that the “ultra-high” refresh rate display of the OnePlus 15 will initiate a new trend in the industry, but it’s important to keep in mind that the majority of other non-gaming Chinese flagship phones have been sticking with 120 Hz screens.
Regarding the phone’s other specifications, the OnePlus 15 is anticipated to come with Qualcomm’s next-generation flagship SoC, which is rumored to be the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5. The phone will have a new camera engine called DetailMax, the company recently confirmed. This means that OnePlus’ collaboration with Hasselblad on its flagship phones will come to an end.
