The Kada Scott case has been updated, and the suspect is accused of tampering with evidence and arson

PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) — The man accused of disappearing Philadelphia woman Kada Scott has been charged with additional offenses.

During a press conference on Monday, the Philadelphia District Attorney’s Office revealed that Keon King, 21, of South Philadelphia, is now facing charges related to the case, including conspiracy, tampering with evidence, arson, and causing catastrophe.

As the district attorney’s office conducts its investigation, King has not yet been charged with homicide.

Larry Krasner, the district attorney for Philadelphia, stated, “We are not done,”.

Human remains were discovered behind an abandoned school in Germantown, Philadelphia, just days prior. On Monday, the DA’s office verified that Scott’s remains were found there.

Last week, King was first taken into custody and accused of kidnapping Scott. Charges against him have also been reinstated in a different case from earlier this year that was initially dismissed due to the witness’s nonattendance at court.

Although officials stated that they think other people might have been involved in this case, they did not provide any additional information regarding the identities or level of involvement of these individuals.

Police found a burned 2008 black Hyundai Accent in the 2300 block of 74th Avenue after receiving a tip, according to officials.

But according to investigators, the car had already been towed, compacted, and was at a junkyard when they arrived on the scene.

The Hyundai is thought to have been the vehicle that transported Scott to the location where her remains were eventually discovered, close to Ada Lewis Middle School, according to investigators who were able to obtain surveillance footage of the vehicle.

Authorities said the car was taken from the 6600 block of Sprague Street on October 3, the day before Scott was last seen. On October 7, it was later set on fire.

Additionally, cell phone data purports to locate King at the different sites linked to this case, such as the scene of the vehicle’s burning and the time it was spotted close to the recreation center where the remains were discovered.

The area around the school and the neighboring Awbury Arboretum had been searched by police in the two weeks before Saturday’s discovery. They had brought in extra K-9 units from New Jersey and had even closed Philadelphia’s police academy for 300 recruits to search the area.

Scott was not found, but tangible evidence was found, such as his debit card and phone case.

A “very specific” tip that was received overnight Friday also led to the discovery of Scott’s remains. The remains were discovered on Saturday.

The second automobile associated with this case is the Hyundai Accent. A 1999 metallic gold Toyota Camry that police thought might have been connected to the case was located last week.
