The devil, it turns out, still wears Prada!

It was revealed in July of last year that Disney was formally working on a follow-up to the 2006 comedy “The Devil Wears Prada.”. The follow-up’s official theatrical release date has been set for May 1, 2026 by the studio.

Meryl Streep and Emily Blunt were rumored to be returning last year, but no cast members have been formally confirmed. “I know they’re working on it,” Stanley Tucci, who starred in the original “Devil Wears Prada,” recently told Variety. I would be overjoyed if it did, but I am unable to provide you with any details. If not, I might end up in the actor’s prison or something. It was among the greatest experiences ever to watch [the original].

The sleazy 2003 book by Lauren Weisberger, who was the personal assistant to American Vogue editor Anna Wintour, about a young woman’s terrifying experience working at a fashion magazine served as the inspiration for “The Devil Wears Prada.”. As the all-powerful editor-in-chief of the made-up Runway magazine, Streep played Miranda Priestly. As Andrea Sachs, Hathaway played a recent journalism graduate who gets the position that “a million girls would kill for” as Priestly’s assistant. (Of course, the only issue is that Andy arrives at the fashion bible with a briefcase full of amazing clips but “no style or sense of fashion.”. Priestley’s busy first assistant, Blunt, has to teach Andy the ropes. Nigel, a longtime fashion editor at Runway, is portrayed by Tucci as he mentors Andy and shows her the runway. (Godspeed, Chanel leather boots!).

The sequel’s official release date coincided with a comprehensive rescheduling of Disney’s upcoming theatrical release schedule, which also resulted in the postponement of “Avengers: Doomsday” and “Avengers: Secret Wars.”. “”.
