What to expect from the upcoming affordable iPhone

9to5Mac

This will be the first update to the iPhone SE in three years, and it’ll likely be the biggest revamp to the iPhone SE since inception.
USB-C Unlike the iPhone 14 and current iPhone SE, Apple is expected to transition away from the Lightning connector on the iPhone SE 4.
Better cameras Apple’s next iPhone SE will likely feature the same 48MP rear sensor as the iPhone 15, making a huge leap from the iPhone SE 3’s 12MP sensor from the iPhone 8. iPhone SE 4 will also likely share the same 12MP selfie camera as the iPhone 15, another huge leap from the iPhone SE 3’s 7MP selfie camera.
iPhone SE pricing According to rumors, the next generation iPhone SE will be more expensive, potentially $499.
Apple would most likely discontinue the iPhone 14 after releasing the next iPhone SE, meaning that the iPhone lineup would potentially look like this: iPhone SE: $499 iPhone 15: $699 iPhone 15 Plus: $799 iPhone 16: $799 iPhone 16 Plus: $899 iPhone 16 Pro: $999 iPhone 16 Pro Max: $1199 This would be quite a unified iPhone lineup, with all iPhones having USB-C. It’d definitely be a little weird if the cheaper iPhone SE had Apple Intelligence support while the more expensive iPhone 15 did not, so I wouldn’t be surprised if Apple discontinued that phone as well.

POSITIVE

Some of you may be wondering what the iPhone will release next, now that the iPhone 16 lineup is available to consumers. But it’s not the iPhone 17, and it won’t be released for another year.

If there are no delays, the iPhone SE 4 should be the next model. We should see this iPhone in about six months, as it is expected to launch in the spring of next year. This is going to be the iPhone SE’s first update in three years, and it’s probably going to be the most significant redesign since the device’s launch.

improved display and newer design.

Since the release of the iPhone SE 2 in 2020, Apple has maintained the design of the iPhone 8. Still present in that design are rounded edges, a home button, and a 4.7″ LCD display. But the upcoming iPhone SE ought to stray from that.

Rather, we anticipate a layout akin to that of the iPhone 14, complete with a larger 6″ OLED screen, a flat edge design, Face ID, and the smaller notch from that model. Still, we anticipate it to sport a single camera as opposed to the iPhone 14’s dual camera.

According to display analyst Ross Young, BOE and LG Display’s 6.1″ OLED panel for the iPhone SE 4 should be the same as that of the iPhone 14.

USB-C.

With the iPhone SE 4, Apple is anticipated to move away from the Lightning connector, in contrast to the iPhone 14 and the present iPhone SE.

This is mostly because of an EU regulation that mandates the use of USB-C, a single connector, for all devices that have a charging port.

The upcoming iPhone SE will mark the final iPhone to adopt USB-C, having first done so with the iPhone 15 lineup last year. Soon, you will be able to charge your iPhone SE using the same cable that you use to charge your iPad and laptop.

Better cameras.

The 48MP rear sensor found on Apple’s upcoming iPhone SE is expected to be the same as that of the iPhone 15, which is a significant improvement over the 12MP sensor found on the iPhone SE 3.

The iPhone SE 4 and the iPhone 15 are expected to have the same 12MP selfie camera, which is a significant improvement over the 7MP selfie camera of the iPhone SE 3.

The intelligence of Apple.

As per Mark Gurman’s reports on Bloomberg, the upcoming iPhone SE is expected to have an A18 chip and 8GB of RAM to support Apple Intelligence. It appears that Apple wants as many people to have access to Apple Intelligence as possible, even with its most affordable new iPhone model, which is a little surprising.

For your information, Apple Intelligence brings a ton of new features, including Notification Summaries, Genmoji, Writing Tools, Photos Clean Up, Image Playground, and an entirely new Siri.

The original modem from Apple.

Apple has been working on developing their first-ever in-house modem for many years, and it should be included in the upcoming fourth generation iPhone SE. With the intention of developing their own modems and displacing Qualcomm, Apple purchased Intel’s former modem division back in 2019.

This week, 9to5Mac exclusively revealed that Apple’s first-ever in-house 5G modem, codenamed Centauri, will be included in the iPhone SE 4. In addition, this modem supports Bluetooth, GPS, and Wi-Fi.

Given that 5G modems from Qualcomm are among the priciest parts of the iPhone, it makes sense for Apple to be attempting to steer clear of them. This may be the main reason why, for such a modern iPhone, the iPhone SE 4 has such a low starting price.

Prices for the iPhone SE.

Rumor has it that the next generation of iPhone SE will cost $499, possibly more. But considering that it’s a very modern iPhone for less than $500, that’s still a pretty good deal.

Since Apple currently charges $599 for the iPhone 14, receiving an updated model for an even lower price would be quite a deal. After releasing the upcoming iPhone SE, Apple would probably stop making the iPhone 14, so the iPhone lineup might look something like this:.

iPhone SE costs $499.

iPhone 15: $699.

$799 for the iPhone 15 Plus.

Price of iPhone 16: $799.

At $899, the iPhone 16 Plus.

The price of the iPhone 16 Pro is $999.

iPhone 16 Pro Max costs $1199.

With USB-C on every iPhone, this would be a fairly uniform lineup. I wouldn’t be shocked if Apple discontinued that phone as well because it would be strange if the more expensive iPhone 15 retained Apple Intelligence support while the less expensive iPhone SE did not.

Tell us in the comments if you’re looking forward to the upcoming iPhone SE generation.
