Wear OS 3 is still $349 with the better band and sapphire glass

About a year after launching the TicWatch Pro 5, Mobvoi is back with a new “Enduro” refresh that brings some hardware upgrades.
The new TicWatch Pro 5 Enduro is launching today as an upgraded version of the TicWatch Pro 5.
TicWatch Pro 5 Enduro is a bit slimmer, though, at 11.95mm thick versus the Pro 5’s 12.2mm.
Where the Pro 5 included a silicone band, TicWatch Pro 5 Enduro uses a 24mm “Fluororubber” band which should feel closer to the sport bands for Pixel Watch and Apple Watch.
It’ll cost the same $349 as the TicWatch Pro 5.
For an objectively better smartwatch, that’s great news, and makes this a solid choice for a Wear OS watch.
Notably, the new model still ships with Wear OS 3, but when asked, Mobvoi told us that it is currently “recruiting” for a Wear OS 4 beta program.
More on Wear OS: Wear OS is growing quickly, will ship roughly half as many units as Apple Watch this year Are Wear OS Tiles for Google Messages and Wallet coming?

Mobvoi has returned with a new “Enduro” update that includes some hardware improvements, about a year after releasing the TicWatch Pro 5.

Today marks the launch of the TicWatch Pro 5 Enduro, an enhanced model of the TicWatch Pro 5. With a Snapdragon W5+ Gen 1 chipset, 2GB of RAM, 32GB of storage, and the same 628 mAh battery paired with a 1.43-inch dual-display for incredibly long battery life, it is essentially identical under the hood.

This time around, what’s new?

All of that is related to hardware, which begins with the display. By switching from Gorilla Glass to sapphire crystal, Mobvoi is able to provide a surface that is extremely resistant to scratches and should be able to withstand almost anything. The watch’s frame is still constructed from the same 7000-series aluminum, nylon, and fiberglass.

Though it is slightly thinner than the TicWatch Pro 5, Enduro measures 11.95 mm thick as opposed to 12.2 mm for the Pro 5.

You’ll notice that the rotating crown and “reinforced bezel carves” surrounding the display are two minor design changes.

A minor upgrade is also made to the band. The TicWatch Pro 5 Enduro has a 24mm “Fluororubber” band instead of the silicone band found on the Pro 5, which should feel more akin to the sport bands found on the Pixel Watch and Apple Watch. Additionally, the watch feels nice to use on my own.

I find it excellent that there will be no price increase for the “Enduro.”. It will set you back $349, just like the TicWatch Pro 5. This makes it a good option for a Wear OS watch and is great news for an objectively better smartwatch.

Interestingly, Wear OS 3 is still included with the new model out of the box. However, Mobvoi informed us that it is presently “recruiting” for a Wear OS 4 beta program. With Google expected to release Wear OS 5 in the upcoming weeks, hopefully that will happen more quickly than it did the last time.

Starting today, Amazon and the Mobvoi website will sell TicWatch Pro 5 Enduro.
