The end credits of Astro Bot may point to some characters that will be included as cameos in the game’s DLC.
The game’s credits, which thank all of the third-party developers and publishers that allowed their characters to feature in the game, also feature references to several characters and IP that aren’t currently featured.
The credits reference Ubisoft three times, thanking them for the inclusion of Assassin’s Creed, Beyond Good & Evil, and Rayman.
Croc and Worms are also mentioned, as is Stellar Blade and Rise of the Ronin.
No characters from any of these franchises appear as cameo bots in the base game, not are they in the four bonus cameo bots that players can import from Astro’s Playroom.
While it’s possible that Team Asobi received clearance to use these characters, and then decided against it, it’s more likely that these characters will be included in the upcoming speedrun and challenge-level DLC.
In the base game, every challenge level rewards the player with one cameo bot, meaning that if the DLC is to follow the same structure, it will also provide players with extra bots for the in-game crash site.
What’s perhaps more surprising is that if this is the complete list of franchises that will be covered by DLC, then Sweet Tooth from the Twisted Metal franchise, who has been spotted in concept art, isn’t currently planned to appear.
Astro Bot’s ending credits might allude to a few characters who will make brief appearances in the game’s DLC.
A number of characters and works of IP that aren’t currently featured are mentioned in the game’s credits, which also express gratitude to all of the outside publishers and developers who permitted their characters to appear in the game.
Rayman, Beyond Good and Evil, and Assassin’s Creed are all included, and Ubisoft is thanked three times in the credits for that.
Additionally, references to Rise of the Ronin, Croc, and Worms are made. Neither in the base game nor in the four bonus cameo bots that players can import from Astro’s Playroom do any of these franchises’ characters make an appearance as cameo bots.
Although Team Asobi might have been given permission to use these characters but later changed their minds, it is more likely that these characters will be part of the next speedrun and challenge-level DLC.
Should the DLC adhere to the same framework, players will receive additional bots for the in-game crash site, as each challenge level in the base game awards the player with a single cameo bot.
Maybe more unexpectedly, Sweet Tooth from the Twisted Metal franchise—who has been seen in concept art—isn’t presently scheduled to make an appearance if this is the full list of franchises that will be covered by DLC.
