Samsung’s launch of the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Galaxy Z Flip 6 in the summer of 2024 was preceded by talk of more models than the two base designs.
He also notes that the phone will use the same display as next year’s Galaxy Z Flip 7.
Samsung’s Fan Edition moniker is used to signify a phone or accessory, offering a significant proportion of features of the main line but at a cost-effective price.
The Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Galaxy Z Flip 7 are expected to launch in the summer of 2025.
The slim form factor of the Galaxy Z Fold SE—a variant of the Z Fold 6—was not launched alongside the parent handset.
Talk of additional models beyond the two base designs preceded Samsung’s summer 2024 release of the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Galaxy Z Flip 6. Only those two phones were made available after the Galaxy Unpacked event; a new Z Fold 6 variant has since been introduced. There are now rumors circulating about Samsung’s Z Flip 6 plan.
A fan edition of the Galaxy Z Flip 6 will be released by Samsung in 2025, according to industry analyst Ross Young, CEO of Display Supply Chain Consultants. He adds that the phone will have the same display as the Galaxy Z Flip 7 from the previous year.
Samsung uses the term “Fan Edition” to describe a phone or accessory that offers a large percentage of the main line’s features at a lower cost. The Galaxy S24, Galaxy Tab, and Galaxy Buds peripherals are all part of the FE range, but neither design has a folding FE as of yet.
In the first FE race, it appears that the Flip form factor will prevail.
Considering that a foldable phone’s screen is one of its primary costs, utilizing the newest model will require making other concessions in order to keep costs low. Samsung is probably going to use an outdated chipset in the Z Flip FE, which could mean that it has less storage than the Z Flip 7. Another obvious target for cost reduction is the camera.
The anticipated summer of 2025 will see the release of the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Galaxy Z Flip 7. Unknown is whether the Z Fold Fan Edition will launch at the same time. Samsung may not want to limit the Z Flip 7’s potential by releasing a less expensive Z Flip FE alongside it, even though it will share the same screen.
The Galaxy Z Fold SE, which is a slim version of the Z Fold 6, was not released with the parent phone. Rather, it was made available in two regions almost four months following the main event. With the Z Flip Fan Edition, Samsung has a compelling case to take the same course of action.
