According to insiders, Halo: Master Chief Collection is set to be released in ‘Switch 2’

CNN

41 Jeronan Yes yes, just like the clickbait crap about XBOX GamePass and XBOX Cloud gaming coming to Nintendo Switch.
The Halo games were the first games that my wife and I ever played together.
48 Jeronan @SillyG To fit the entire Master Chief Collection on a cartridge, you would need a 128GB capacity cartridge.
They are making room for Switch 2 shelf space 🤣 50 The-Chosen-one Microsoft /xbox games will do great on switch.
86 Slobbert I’d love to see all the good Halo games on Switch.

NEGATIVE

1. .

Princess Lilily.

I came here to express my gratitude for Halo Collection, and as soon as I saw the word “Oblivion,” I became extremely excited.

2. .

Okay.

You’ve displayed “switch 2” rumors five times this week, Sheen.

3. .

The memory of Rias.

Now that nothing has been verified, these rumors are just becoming absurd, which is why I choose to believe them.

4. .

The German Max.

Minecraft on the Switch is making money, and Microsoft is aware that its games will sell very well on the Switch 2.

5.

Derigen.

if accurate. Okay, right now.

Take a look at the person who unexpectedly qualified for Smash Bros.

6.

BaldB3lper78.

I see a ton of Xbox games coming to the Switch, so that would be fantastic. Xbox will sell a ton of Switch 2s and make a ton of money from third parties.

Forza on the Switch 2 would be fantastic.

Seven.

AwfulWullie.

Excellent if accurate. I’d purchase both.

Flight Simulator would be an experience to play while in flight. I hope they bring Gear of War and Forza over as well. Or, better yet, Gamepass. But that is not likely to occur.

8. .

Split and Wander.

It seems improbable, but I’ll believe it when I discover it. However, I would definitely welcome it. For third parties on Nintendo, the Switch 2 could be a game changer if the rumored specs match those of the Xbox Series S. Naturally, effective optimization would be crucial.

9.

Rjejr.

That Microsoft believes a collection of games released in 2014, ten years ago, will run on the Switch 2 is good to know.

Ten.

German Max.

Due to the size of the maps, the files are streamed from Microsoft servers rather than being stored locally on your Xbox, so internet access is a major concern.

11. .

Smithia.

I think it’s great that we’ll even be able to hear about upcoming games before Nintendo takes action.

12.

Mirastrix.

The term “known insider” is accurate. The credibility of Nate the Hate is comparable to that of the typical politician.

13. .

The Gamosian Astro.

I’m a huge fan of Halo, so even though this would be awesome, I’ll believe it when I see it. Once more, I don’t want to be greatly let down after being excited by the rumors.

14.

dirty_croc.

Unhelpful comments have been removed.

15. 15.

The German Max.

It is true that @Mirastrix Here talked a lot about Switch Pro for a long time, but it never happened. However, he maintains that Nintendo deleted it for an undisclosed reason, and his information was reliable.

In summary, confidential information obtained from within a company is likely to contain many errors because many things are canceled during development (personal professional experience).

16.

broken bones.

I know you need “news” for your feed, but this is just turning into a gossip mill. Switch 2 rumors are wearing me out.

17. .

Mirastrix.

He would say that his information was reliable because it exposed him as the obvious liar that he is, @Max_the_German.

18.

Ranchman69.

I feel good about this as well. If GTA6 and the missing sports games are released on the Switch 2, the console war will be over. The world will poop their pants after seeing it in the trailer.

19.

BaldB3lper78.

It will be intriguing to observe whether the Switch Pro will have a large selection of cloud games. (2).

twenty.

B3lper78.

Nate is a twit, @Mirastrix, to be honest.

21. .

A folkloner.

Another disgusting article that gives thieves like Nate legitimacy.

This isn’t technically a rumor. In a Switch 2 predictions video, he is making predictions. And that’s it.

22.

Batman Bud 2.

BUY RIGHT AWAY.

I am and will always be a Halo 4 defender, too.

23.

BaldB3lper78. .

The issue with the term “insider” is that they are not insiders. Just regular people like us make a ton of guesses over the course of 13 months, and maybe one or two of them turn out to be correct.

It’s more the law of averages than insider knowledge. They ought to consider applying for one of those jobs.

24.

Wilton Roots.

@splinters concurred, this is sensationalist nonsense. Since all this site is doing right now is berating people, it needs to take a break until it has relevant news.

25.

JohnnyMind.

Though I’m not the biggest fan of first-person shooters (despite how much I’m enjoying Prime Remastered overall, I still much prefer third-person games), I’d love to see that happen for all those who wanted Halo on a Nintendo system. I’ll believe it when I see it, especially since it’s from Nate the Hate!

Naturally, if it occurs, I’m also happy for those who are interested in Flight Simulator.

26. .

Asantos.

Would you please not give me that hope?

27.

The Bunkerneath.

Yes, I played the first two on my original Xbox, and the second one ended on a cliffhanger. Since I never received a 360, I never continued the story.

However, it seems to me that people are now reaching for straws.

A friend of my uncle’s who has a brother’s cousin who works at Microsoft attested to this.

28.

Stephenxliko.

That’s an Xbox.

19.

mariomaster96.

If Halo ever makes it to the Switch 2, I’d give it a try even though I’ve never played it.

3.

Drachma.

Put an end to the switch 2 rumors, please. I am at my breaking point.

31.

Mr. Gawain.

When Xbox wants to make all of its games available on all other platforms, you might wonder why they are developing their own handheld device.

33.

OldGamer999.

The fact that neither Xbox console’s stock is being replenished has gone unnoticed in the UK.

Curry’s is out of stock both online and in-store.

There are only a few x in the game, no stock.

No Smyths toys are available online, and the majority of stores don’t carry X or S.

Argos is having trouble delivering to some areas.

Amazon from Amazon UK has none in stock and suggests waiting one to three months.

No billion-dollar corporation allows this to occur by chance.

What is the reason behind Microsoft’s stock run?

34.

The Daimando.

The idea of Microsoft and ActivisionBlizzard releasing an offline, open-sandbox version of World of Warcraft for Switch 2 owners would be hilarious.

33.

Itachi2099.

Nate also mentioned that FF7 Remake and Rebirth would be available on Switch 2. Why hasn’t that been mentioned?

33.

Olliemar, 28.

Believe me, @Drachma, we’re just as exhausted as you all are. Nothing would please us more than for Nintendo to simply make the announcement and move on. However, the truth is that rumors will always surface before a reveal, and we have a duty to cover those that seem somewhat credible.

My friend, it will soon be over.

36.

DaftSkunk.

Although I’d be thrilled to see Halo on the Switch, I believe the true question is whether the Fable games will receive the same level of attention. Because I wouldn’t give anything to relive them, particularly Fable II.

39.

coalescence.

If it’s just for the Jet Force Gemini with improved controls, I’ll get excited once Rare Replay is available. However, even if this is true, it’s cool.

37.

GVIL.

If this is the case, they would be hurting themselves if and when they ever released a handheld.

They entered the market with the intention of dominating it, but they have only ever finished second to the original Xbox and third to every other system.

39.

Shgamer. .

@GVIL They did outsell the Wii U about ten years ago, though (whatever their system was in direct competition with the Wii U – Edit: the Wii U was up against the Xbox One and PS4 because Nintendo released the Wii U a year before the competition in a sort of Xbox 360 – the Wii U then bombed and was followed by the Switch four years later, which kind of messed up the “system” with Nintendo now releasing new hardware when PS and MS are mid-gen).

forty.

pleasant.

I received a Switch 2 for Christmas from my uncle, who works for Nintendo.

I am unable to provide any hard evidence, though, for various reasons. However, I assure you that the system’s games are fantastic and that its user interface is excellent.

40.

The Jeronan.

Indeed, exactly like the clickbait nonsense about XBOX Cloud and XBOX GamePass coming to the Nintendo Switch.

We are all aware of the outcome of that.

42.

SillyG.

But there’s no way Snowball could have it on a damn cartridge. I’d be thrilled to be proven incorrect.

MicroSD cards are really cool.

A larger capacity cartridge that functions as a complete product (and doesn’t need to be installed, unlike discs on competing hardware) is preferable to a large download that will take up $10 or more of my microSD card’s storage (and repeat that storage burden for any other consoles I own), which will ultimately cost the end user significantly more.

44.

Wilton Roots.

Here are some rumors that are currently circulating; please take them with a grain of salt. @Olliemar28, perhaps combine them into a single article. Could work. Maybe an article about containment?

44.

Dm9982. .

Avowed, Fable 1-3, Fallout 3/NV/4, and Outer Worlds Spacers Choice, please!

45.

anoyonmus.

@BaldB3lper78 I’ve heard that Forza Horizon 5 will be multiplatform. The PS5 and possibly the Nintendo Switch 2.

To be honest, that’s the only one I want to go multiplatform.

44.

Gregory X.

I would weep with happiness if this were to occur. Initially, my spouse and I played the Halo games together. We became much closer after they broke the ice. Additionally, it might present an opportunity for my greatest dream to become a Smash Bros. Master Chief.

46.

3710.

If it’s true, I’ll buy it without a doubt, but I’m only about 40–60% sure.

48.

A Jeronan.

@SillyG You would need a cartridge with a 128GB capacity in order to fit the entire Master Chief Collection.

Even the least expensive 128GB MicroSD card is too costly and would perform too slowly. The profits would be too much to bear.

Therefore, it will only be available for download if it even reaches the Switch 2. Unless Nintendo uses a new, much more affordable, and better-performing storage medium for the Switch 2 cartridge, that is.

I am aware that the new MicroSD Express standard allows for speeds of up to 800 MB/s, and a 128 GB Sandisk sample card can be purchased for about 80 dollars if you can obtain one.

Nintendo will still need to pay at least $20 to $25 per card, even if they place large orders. It simply costs too much.

This is more than the 32GB cards that are currently available for the Switch, which are already rejected by game distributors.

The price of a multilayer Blu-ray with a capacity of up to 128GB is only a few dollars, and it drops even further when they order and print millions of game copies.

This is simply a significant drawback of the Cartridge format. It was compatible with the DS and 3DS, two small handheld consoles from the past with low-resolution screens. Because of this, the games needed very little storage space and had very low texture resolution.

47.

999 OldGamer.

I’ve figured out why the UK doesn’t seem to be restocking Xbox consoles, so it’s all good.

Shelf space for Switch 2 is being created 🤣.

50.

The one who was selected.

Games from Microsoft and Xbox will run smoothly on the switch.

Particularly the Killerinstinct, Perfect Dark, Conquer, and Banjo. As soon as they come out of the oven, those will sell out.

Indeed, it would be a very wise move on the part of MS., and with the 10-year Call of Duty deal, the future is bright. Halo will also do very well.

51.

B3lper78.

@anoyonmus Almost all Xbox games will be cross-platform. Xbox wants to sell on other platforms and make money from the cloud.

51.

GMMMXX.

I get sick of this never-ending conjecture. If people were honest, what a world it would be! Wouldn’t it be nice if the press reported facts based on credible evidence?

55.

74 badmotorfinger.

Splatoon is the only shooter I’ve played on the Switch, I just realized. To satisfy that sporadic craving, I would most likely purchase a Halo collection. I believe that this is the older version of Flight Simulator from 2020, which was a bit of a space-hog for SSDs. Given that the 2024 version is available (albeit occasionally flawed), I doubt I would double dip on that one.

53.

NinjaWaddleDee. .

For the sake of the split screen, I will definitely be purchasing MCC on the Switch.

55.

Definitely, Woomy.

Bring on Forza Horizon, please! Even Forza Horizon 2 is amazing, and I sort of prefer it to the more recent Horizons.

But my god, I’m willing to wager that the Switch 2 will never again have analog triggers for racing games. An analog trigger controller is something Nintendo should produce. Why is a Japanese console—the land of drifting—not producing official analog trigger controllers? Despite their love for creating oddball controller accessories, Nintendo continues to avoid using analog triggers. @Nintendolife, it would be a great headline if you learned of an official Switch 2 Pro controller with analog triggers for racing games. Please pardon me. It’s probably unnecessary for me to tell you that. I love it.

55.

Batmanbud 2.

If that’s the case, I believe the majority of fans would be okay with separate releases for each of the five games, @Jeronan.

53.

Papa, umbreons.

I adore the mayhem created by all of these leaks and rumors. It’s always exciting to see what new consoles will bring.

As I’ve stated before, it’s acceptable to take pleasure in and participate in all of the speculation. At the end of the day, however, be mature, remember that things might not be true, and move on. Additionally, I’m not sure why some people become so agitated over leaks and rumors.

55.

anoyonmus.

Yes, Switch 2 controllers should have analog triggers, @WoomyNN.

Due to licensing concerns and other factors, I’m not sure about earlier Forza Horizon games.

55.

The myth.

In Super Smash Bros., we want Master Chief.

sixty.

Looking S.

Yaya Switch 2 will have a huge bundle and be a lot of modern games.

61. .

coolioam.

As a fan of Halo, this would be fantastic. I adore the Master Chief Collection, which has a ton of fantastic campaigns and entertaining multiplayer. It wouldn’t bother me if Infinite made an appearance on the Switch 2.

Although it may not happen, Indiana Jones would be fantastic.

62. .

Absolutely, Woomy.

@anoyonmus Whoa, what a waste. licenses. I already forgot. Indeed, that most likely disqualifies Horizon 2 or earlier Horizons.

6.

K31.

I hope so, @Erigen, but I doubt that the Sergeant’s cigAR will allow him to be playable.

64.

Iron Man 30.

Children, the world is changing. I want to wait to purchase it for Xbox because I believe Indy could make the leap.

65. .

Out of date.

That would make a respectable replacement for Skyrim in the announcement trailer. Having Halo 3 and Reach on a contemporary console instead of needing to purchase an Xbox for them like I did the first time would be fantastic. These games played a significant role in my adolescence.

65.

shgamer.

When it was released in 2001, Halo: Combat Evolved was truly unique and may have been the greatest game on the original Xbox. I did play and finish the sequel, but I found it to be very repetitive and bored.

One positive aspect of this collection is that it features Halos created by Bungie rather than those created by 343 Industries. I became disillusioned with the series over 20 years ago, so it’s not for me.

67.

Drachma.

@Olliemar28.

Alright, I just hope it happens soon. Since there aren’t many switch-related news stories at the moment, I know how hard it can be to decide what to report and what not to.

There are a lot of headlines, though.

68.

Olysses.

I’m having a great time playing Halo 2 on my future Switch 2.

Funny enough, this could become the ultimate HaloMCC experience if Microsoft takes their time porting and adding many of the exclusive upscaling features of the Switch 2 to Halo 1-3.

69.

anoyonmus.

@WoomyNNYes, Switch 2 might get Horizon 5.

70.

Novamii.

I hope it’s not some dumb “You need to sign in with a Microsoft account” kind of nonsense, but that would be fantastic. Sony and Ubisoft also did that with the Master Collection on PC, and it’s incredibly dumb. Like, sure it’s free, but I’m already paying to play these games. It is simply infuriating to put them behind an extra obstacle to entry, such as an account.

71.

OorWullie.

@Max_the_German That makes sense, but I didn’t know. If playing on a handheld device, it will probably need to be linked to WiFi or mobile data. Does it have an offline mode?

72.

HugoGED.

Despite the fact that many Switch players are Xbox fans, we can all agree that Halo on a Nintendo platform would be fantastic.

7.

Thomystic.

Applying the supply-side and demand-side ideas from economics to consumer psychology seems like a promising idea. Is the industry encouraging these leaks and rumors to keep us interested during a news lull so we don’t all lose patience and start rock climbing instead, or do fans become restless as they wait to hear something that will make them want to buy more?

74.

(-wc-).

Could you please filter the RUMOUR tag from my feed? I really don’t give a damn. ✌️.

75.

UltimateOtaku91. .

ReBirth and the Final Fantasy 7 Remake will be available on the Switch 2, he added.

76.

Hobbesyall.

@Thomystic, there may be some truth to that! I don’t recall ever seeing so many leaks and rumors about a device.

77.

German Max.

@OorWullie As far as I know, it is always-online for all relevant game modes, streaming the polygon models and textures and the real local weather of your vietual position in the world.

7.

AG_Amazing.

This would be great because it’s the only series for which I would purchase an Xbox.

7.

SillyG.

@Jeronan : Based on the size of the Xbox One version, they could potentially drop the quality of the textures/cutscenes to bring the game down to a (theoretical) 64GB cartridge, particularly if the game is only supported at 1080p. Perhaps this is another instance of history repeating itself, as we have witnessed more significant file size reductions for Switch ports.

Additionally, a rewriteable microSD card should be less expensive to manufacture than a ROM cartridge, which is also larger in size. In any case, I’m just hoping, and shady third parties will keep making poor “physical” releases unless Nintendo modifies their policy to prohibit the practice. Third parties’ reluctance to use 32GB cartridges is absurd, considering that their prices ought to have dropped significantly in the eight years since the original Switch was released.

Speaking of Blu-rays, the standard models can hold up to 50GB of data. Likewise, UHD Blu-rays are capped at 100GB.

According to specifications, the 128GB discs you mention are part of the obscure Blu-ray XL format, which is more or less identical to the standard Blu-ray. However, these discs were never widely available (mostly in Japan), had very little support, and were meant for long-term data storage rather than movie playback (since most players do not support it and no movies were released for the format, that I am aware of anyway).

Sony has since emblazoned “4K” on the packaging of BD-XL discs as a selling point, but these are not blank UHD discs, which are currently nonexistent (sadly), and even their own UHD players do not read XL discs, even though they are one of the top manufacturers of the format.

This format should be ignored when talking about Blu-ray discs, in my opinion, as it will only confuse people who are not familiar with the format or formats. It would be equivalent to shouting that the maximum capacity of DVDs is 17GB, which is only true for the incredibly rare double-sided, quadruple-layered version, when the most widely accessible writeable versions are 4.7GB and 8.5GB.

I’m not confident that blank UHD discs will ever materialise, but the second they do, I’ll be first in line.

80.

WiltonRoots.

@OldGamer999 Xbox going third party? It’s an angle…Sony selling games on PC (third party)? I thought Nintendo was supposed to go third party. Somebody’s losing money….

81.

OldGamer999.

@WiltonRoots.

No, let’s keep Nintendo as they are creating amazing best quality AAA games for a single system, the switch 2.

82.

Ade117.

Having Halo on the go would be so damn amazing.

83.

ZombieTechpad.

I would not classify Nate The Hate as an industry insider. He’s more a wishful thinker.

84.

Lord.

More titles I’ve no interest in.

85.

Spider-Kev.

What is the difference between Halo 3 and Halo 3 DOST?

86.

Slobbert.

I’d love to see all the good Halo games on Switch.

87.

Slobbert.

@Spider-Kev They’re different games with different campaigns. You play as a regular guy in ODST and not Master Chief.

88.

Jeronan.

@SillyG That is why I said up to 128GB.

PS5 and XBOX series X games are still pressed on 50GB BluRay and larger games that don’t fit on a single disc, come on two discs.

They also can get away with it, since the discs are just for initial storage and games can be pressed on these discs in heavily compressed format, since you can’t play directly from disc and always need to install the games on your console first. Since BluRay read speeds are just too slow.

That is also why PS5 and XBOX Series X come standard with 1TB NVMe m.2 storage.

It’s also extremely cheap for the Game publishers, since 50GB BluRays cost under a dollar. So even if they have to press their game on 2 BluRay discs, its less than 2 dollars in cost.

This is why gaming cartridges are just so outdated and have a huge downside in todays demanding games.

Of course BluRay for a hybrid console like the Switch is out of the question.

The Switch 2 will support 4K (via NVidia DLSS upscaling), so you will look at PS4/XBox One game sizes ( 50-70GB average ).

If publishers already refuse to use 32GB Switch cartridges due to too high cost, you can completely forget to convince them to consider the even more expensive 64GB size.

So Nintendo will have to pull some technical miracle out of their head with the Switch 2 and come with an updated cartridge solution that offers both better performance and at a much lower cost.

Another route could be for the Switch 2 to come standard with 1TB NVMe m.2 storage, so demanding games that take up a large chunk of space can just be offered digitally via download.

I know the physical crowd will cry foul over this, but this is just a reality we need to accept for a hybrid console that offers both docked and handheld gaming.

Modern games become more demanding and take up more and more storage. The technology is just not there yet to produce cartridges with high enough capacity and performance at a very low price that Publishers demand to consider a physical release.

89.

Rykdrew.

Probably Hi Fi Rush on Switch 2.

90.

BishopShiozawa.

I’ve seen the rumours.

I’m more willing to believe that Final Fantasy VII Remake and Rebirth will be on the Switch 2 due to sq\. Enix’s desire to broaden their horizons. But let’s wait and see.

91.

NintendoByNature.

Would be pretty cool I guess. I already own MCC but maybe I’d double dip.

92.

johnedwin.

@Jeronan expect many switch 2 third party games to require a large download.

93.

johnedwin.

@BishopShiozawa it would be interesting if these games come to switch 2 would they sell well i’m not confident they will. i think many have lost favor for final fantasy games.

94.

datamonkey.

Halo isn’t for me but Oblivion and flight simulator are! Would love portable versions of those….

95.

PinderSchloss.

When did this site become SpeculationLife all of a sudden?

96.

Artonide.

Now give us diddy kong racing, donkey kong 64 and banjo kazooie remastered physical editions.

97.

Mythra.

Metroid – Halo crossover game, can we dream about that.

98.

Rozetta.

Nate the Hate is not an “insider”. Heck, he got more things wrong than right (he has a friend on Ubisoft who leaks for him and for everyone).

Plus, this is the same nate that had to apologize because his “leak” of CoD on Switch did not happened. He also said Metroid Prime Trilogy would be launched. Nintendo 64 Mini. StarFox GP.

He just want to boost his brand with educated guesses. He never, NEVER, leaked or got anything right from NCL.

99.

PessitheMystic.

@Olliemar28 you guys must be salivating at all the engagement these non-reporting is getting. Be better and stop spreading misinformation.

100.

Masacheez.

I’d buy it only if it were physical. Digital – count me and my $$$ out tyvm.

101.

Axecon.

This was my hot take prediction for 2025. I’d still find this hilarious if it ever came true!

102.

Aurumonado.

Master Chief collection is like over 100 gigs so Nintendo better start producing larger carts.

103.

Austrian.

My uncle, who works at Nintendo as a janitor, confirmed this to me!11!!
