Syracuse landed a seismic addition in the 2026 class Saturday night when four-star wide receiver Calvin Russell, ESPN’s No.
Russell, a 6-foot-6, 190-pound downfield target from Miami, Florida, is ESPN’s fourth-ranked wide receiver in the 2026 class.
He chose Syracuse over finalists Michigan, Florida State and Oregon following a pair of unofficial visits with the program this spring.

Calvin Russell, a four-star wide receiver and ESPN’s No. 1 pick in the 2026 class, was a seismic addition for Syracuse on Saturday night. 28th overall recruit, declared his intention to join the Orange.
In the 2026 class, ESPN ranks Russell, a 6-foot-6, 190-pound downfield target from Miami, Florida, as the fourth-ranked wide receiver. After making two unofficial visits to the program this spring, he selected Syracuse over finalists Michigan, Florida State, and Oregon.
With the Orange as the No, Russell comes in last. One pledge in the class of 2026 under Syracuse coach Fran Brown. Russell would become the program’s highest-ranked addition if he signs later this year.
As a three-sport standout at Miami Northwestern High School, where he won a 3A state title in 2024 under head coach and former NFL quarterback Teddy Bridgewater, Russell is the son of former Miami women’s basketball player Chanivia Broussard.
Last fall, he recorded 39 receptions for 704 yards and 13 touchdowns during his junior season. Russell, a talented small forward who finished his sophomore basketball season averaging 21 points and 7 rebounds per game, is also anticipated to try to play collegiate basketball for the Orange.
Russell represents yet another significant commitment for Syracuse under Brown, who in 2025 also signed ESPN 300 safety Demetres Samuel.
