The Green Bay Packers and Chicago Bears have been playing professional football games against each other since 1921, and neither team had produced a win streak over 10 games in the 103-year history of the rivalry.
Thanks to a go-ahead touchdown run from Jordan Love and a blocked field goal from Karl Brooks, the Packers extended their win streak over the Bears to 11 games and set the new record for longest win streak in the NFL’s longest-running rivalry.
At 10 straight wins over the Bears, the Packers had tied the record set by the Packers between 1994 and 1998.
The Packers will host the Bears in the season finale at Lambeau Field on Jan. 5 with a chance to run the win streak to 12 games.
The NFL record for win streak over a single opponent is 20 games, set by the Miami Dolphins over the Buffalo Bills.
In the 103 years that the Green Bay Packers and Chicago Bears have played professional football against one another, since 1921, neither team has won a run of more than ten games.
All of that changed on Sunday.
With Jordan Love’s game-winning touchdown run and Karl Brooks’ blocked field goal, the Packers’ winning streak against the Bears reached 11 games, setting a new record for the longest win streak in the NFL’s oldest rivalry.
As time ran out on Sunday, Brooks narrowly missed Cairo Santos’ 46-yard field goal attempt to preserve a 20-19 victory at Soldier Field, denying the Bears the chance to end the run and win the series for the first time since 2018.
The Packers tied the record they set between 1994 and 1998 with ten consecutive victories over the Bears. Currently, the record stands at 11 consecutive games from 2019 to 2024.
The Packers have never lost to the Bears since hiring Matt LaFleur in 2019. He’s now 11-0.
In the season finale, the Packers will host the Bears at Lambeau Field in January. 5 with a chance to extend the winning streak to 12 games. The Miami Dolphins’ 20-game win streak against a single opponent is the NFL record. The Buffalo Bills set this record.
