Former UFC light heavyweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov was booted from a flight this weekend after a disagreement with airline staff.
He continued to insist that he had fully complied with the flight crew.
“Then why you guys do this?” A supervisor was brought onto the plane and Nurmagomedov eventually left the aircraft without any further issues.
A man believed to be part of his traveling party could also be seen exiting the plane after Nurmagomedov got off.
“We have checked our records and did not have this individual on an Alaska Airlines flight that day,” the spokesperson said.
Khabib Nurmagomedov, a former UFC light heavyweight champion, was removed from a flight this past weekend following an altercation with airline employees.
The incident happened on Saturday on a Frontier Airlines flight leaving from Harry Reid International Airport in Las Vegas. It seemed to be a miscommunication between Nurmagomedov and the flight attendant regarding the former UFC fighter’s capacity to help the crew in case of an emergency because he was seated in an emergency exit row.
Nurmagomedov is shown in the opening moments of the nearly two-minute video telling the airline employees that “he knows how to help people.”. “”.
The employee was heard on camera telling Nurmagomedov, “We can’t let you sit in the exit row,” at one point. “.”.
“This back and forth is not what I’m going to do. I’ll go make a supervisor call. When Nurmagomedov attempted to object, she said, “You can either move to a different seat or we can go ahead and escort you off the plane.”.
He was adamant that he had obeyed the flight crew completely.
He remarked, “They asked me if I knew English when I was checking in, and I said yes.”. Why do you guys do this, then?
Following the introduction of a supervisor, Nurmagomedov eventually departed the aircraft without any more problems.
After Nurmagomedov disembarked, a man who was presumably a member of his traveling party was also observed leaving the aircraft.
The flight was identified as being operated by Alaska Airlines in a number of media reports, but an airline representative emailed The Post to say that the identification was “incorrect.”.
The spokesperson said, “We looked through our records and this person was not on an Alaska Airlines flight that day.”.
In a post on X on Sunday night, Nurmagomedov discussed the incident and disclosed that Frontier was the airline in question.
“Even though I can understand everything and speak very good English, the lady who approached me with questions was extremely rude right away. She insisted on taking me out of my seat even after I agreed to help. I’m not sure what the basis for that was—racial, national, or something else,” he wrote.
However, she called security after we spoke for two minutes, and I was taken off the plane. I boarded another airline one and headed to my destination an hour and a half later. As you can see in the video, I tried my hardest to remain composed and courteous. However, those crew members could just be kind to clients the next time. “.”.
The Post received a statement from Frontier Airlines acknowledging the incident.
An airline spokesperson stated, “We are aware of the incident and are investigating.”. The customers have received their refunds, and we will get in touch with them personally. “.”.
