College football is back with a bang.
Georgia Tech kicker Aidan Birr nailed a game-winning field goal as time expired to give the Yellow Jackets a 24-21 upset over the 10th-ranked Florida State Seminoles in the Aer Lingus College Football Classic in Dublin, Ireland, Saturday.
Florida State quarterback DJ Uiagalelei led a 15-play, 84-yard drive, which included two fourth down conversions, to tie the game at 21.

At the Aer Lingus College Football Classic in Dublin, Ireland, on Saturday, Georgia Tech kicker Aidan Birr scored a game-winning field goal with seconds remaining to give the Yellow Jackets a 24-21 upset victory over the 10th-ranked Florida State Seminoles.
To tie the score at 21, Florida State quarterback DJ Uiagalelei led a 15-play, 84-yard drive that included two fourth down conversions. Florida State would not have the ball again after that.
With 12 plays completed in 6:33 of game time, Yellow Jackets quarterback Haynes King gave his kicker a chance to win it.
Despite missing a 52-yard attempt on the opening play of the second half, Birr scored the game-winning goal from 41 yards, slipping it just inside the left goalpost.
Early on, Florida State made a great impression by driving the ball with ease. With a 28-yard run, Lawrance Toafili scored the opening touchdown of the 2024 campaign. With an 8-0 lead, the Seminoles secured the two-point conversion through a deceptive play on the extra point.

In response, the Yellow Jackets quickly scored a point of their own. With the offense at the other team’s one-yard line, backup quarterback Zach Pyron replaced King and raced into the end zone for a touchdown on a QB draw.
Using both his arms and legs, King was a constant for the Yellow Jackets throughout the entire day. He ran the ball 15 times for 54 yards, finishing the day 11-for-16 for 146 yards.
Jamal Haynes, a running back for Georgia Tech, carried the ball 11 times for 75 yards and two touchdowns in the triumph.
Since 2021, it was the first time FSU had lost as a double-digit favorite.
The Seminoles have now lost two straight games after being destroyed 63-3 by the Georgia Bulldogs in the Orange Bowl, where they were eliminated from the College Football Playoffs despite having a 13-0 record at the time.
