On Thursday, Julian “JuJu” Lewis, a five-star prospect from Carrollton (Ga.) High School, announced his verbal committed to the Buffaloes and head coach Deion Sanders.
By committing to CU, Lewis has a chance to take the reins of the offense from current Buffs star quarterback Shedeur Sanders, who will graduate after this season.
At CU, he’ll have a chance to learn from Coach Prime, a Hall of Fame cornerback, and offensive coordinator Pat Shurmur.
“I’m excited to learn under coach Shurmur and Coach Prime,” Lewis said.
I don’t think there’s a better person to learn (from in) how to read defenses and coverages than Coach Prime, Deion Sanders.
Colorado has now acquired its future quarterback.

During “The Pat McAfee Show” on ESPN, Lewis made his announcement live. Lewis resigned from his USC commitment earlier this week.
Lewis has an opportunity to take over the offense from current Buffs star quarterback Shedeur Sanders, who will graduate at the end of this season, by committing to CU.
On the McAfee Show, Lewis stated, “Obviously, it was significant for me to arrive after Shedeur and witness what he has done to Colorado and what he has transformed it into.”. ESPN rates the 6-foot-1, 185-pound Lewis as the second-best player in the 2025 class and rates him as a five-star prospect. Lewis has a five-star rating and is ranked No. 1 on Rivals.com. In the class, Lewis is ranked as the No. 6 overall and a four-star by 247Sports. Its composite rankings place the quarterback at number six.
In the hopes that Lewis would join the Buffs and replace Shedeur, CU and its supporters have been excited to sign him. Lewis was even honored by The Sink with the name “JuJu’s Precision Pass Burger.”. “”.
Lewis decided in January to reclassify to the 2025 class after having previously been a recruit in the class of 2026. In fact, he will graduate a year and a half ahead of schedule because, according to McAfee, he intends to graduate from high school next month and enroll at CU in January in order to get a head start in 2025.
He remarked, “Coach Prime has always stated that the best man will play, and that’s really what I wanted was to be able to come in and compete, start as a freshman.”. Sitting on the bench wouldn’t be very enjoyable for me. That was really important to me because I said, “I want to come in somewhere where I can get a chance to play,” and he allowed me to compete. ”.
Lewis made his USC commitment in August. He had been committed to the Trojans for almost 15 months before the start of his sophomore year of high school, on 22nd, 2023. Georgia, Indiana, Auburn, and other schools have actively recruited Lewis, who has received over three dozen offers.
Lewis was offered on Jan by CU. 17, 2023, and he has made multiple trips to the university. In addition to his unofficial visits to Boulder, he made an official visit to CU in June. He most recently traveled to Boulder to watch the Buffs defeat Cincinnati 34–23 in October. 26.
Lewis has completed 77.8% of his passes this season, resulting in 2,842 yards, 40 touchdowns, and just four interceptions. He has started for the varsity for three years and completed 69 percent of his passes for 10,054 yards, 136 touchdowns, and 18 interceptions, 12 of which came in his rookie campaign.
Carrollton has a 36-3 record with Lewis at quarterback over the past three years, including an 11-0 start to the season. On Friday night, Lewis and the Trojans play in the second round of the playoffs.
He will have the opportunity to learn from Pat Shurmur, the offensive coordinator and Hall of Fame cornerback, at CU under Coach Prime.
