Samsung’s on the cusp of finally giving its long-awaited “Project Moohan” headset a full reveal, but if you can’t wait until this month’s rumored launch later this month, a new set of leaked renders and screenshots might be enough to tide you over.
Android Headlines published an in-depth look at leaked assets for the “Galaxy XR,” supposedly the official name of Project Moohan, and so far, it looks like the Apple Vision Pro competitor many of us were expecting.
We’ve seen Galaxy XR plenty of times in the wild — Samsung showed it off at the Galaxy S25 launch event and at Mobile World Congress, and our own Abner Li went hands-on with an early version last December.
These renders, which appear to be sourced from somewhere within Samsung, showcase the device from practically every angle.
Largely speaking, this device appears to be pretty in-line with modern VR/XR headset design.

If you can’t wait for the anticipated launch later this month, a fresh batch of leaked renders and screenshots may be sufficient to keep you entertained until Samsung finally unveils its eagerly anticipated “Project Moohan” headset.

In-depth analysis of leaked assets for the “Galaxy XR,” purportedly the official name of Project Moohan, was published by Android Headlines. Thus far, it appears to be the Apple Vision Pro rival that many of us were anticipating. Our own Abner Li got a hands-on look at an early version of the Galaxy XR last December, and Samsung showcased it at both the Mobile World Congress and the Galaxy S25 launch event. These renders, which seem to have come from somewhere in Samsung, show the device from almost every perspective.

This gadget seems to be generally in keeping with the design of contemporary VR/XR headsets. To keep as much weight off your face as possible, you have two lenses that conceal a 4K micro-OLED display beneath a passed forehead rest, an adjustable strap that reaches around the back and can be tightened with a tension knob, and an attached battery pack.

It is made even more evident by a leaked image that depicts how the device fits on someone’s head, once more in a very Apple-like manner. This is more in keeping with something like the Meta Quest than the futuristic vision of smart glasses that Android XR, in part, promises.

A few UI screenshots run on Google’s new headset-focused operating system, “One UI XR,” are also included in this leak. Overall, it appears to be quite tidy, with a home screen that includes a few Google, Samsung, and third-party apps like Calm and Netflix. Google Search, Gemini, the home panel, and a number of settings and notification options are all accessible through a menu bar at the top of the home screen. In addition to the time and date, of course.

The specifications of the Galaxy XR are also being leaked to us. The XR2+ Gen 2 processor from Qualcomm, which was first introduced almost two years ago, powers that micro-OLED panel, which has almost 6 million more pixels than the Vision Pro’s display. In addition to a depth sensor positioned across from your forehead and four eye-tracking cameras encircling the lenses, Samsung uses six sensors—two bottom-facing and four front-facing—for hand tracking. Naturally, it can also be controlled by voice commands. It appears to have microphones positioned throughout the device, and two controllers will be included in the box for gaming.

It weighs 545 grams total, which is reportedly 50–100 grams less than Apple’s headset. Presumably, that excludes the battery, which lasts for roughly two hours when used normally and a little longer when watching movies. However, it isn’t long enough to survive Avatar: The Way of Water, so make plans appropriately.
