Shakira was scheduled to take the stage at Boston‘s Fenway Park on Thursday, May 29, as part of her Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran tour.
But hours before doors opened for the show, Live Nation announced that the event had been cancelled.
The Jason Aldean and Brooks & Dunn concert scheduled at the same venue on May 30 has also been cancelled “Due to unforeseen circumstances, the Shakira and Jason Aldean and Brooks & Dunn performances originally scheduled for May 29th and May 30th respectively at Fenway Park have been canceled,” the Live Nation statement read.
Representatives for Shakira, Aldean, and Brooks & Dunn did not immediately respond to Rolling Stone‘s request for comment.

The shows were canceled after structural components were found to be subpar during a standard pre-show inspection, according to a person familiar with the matter who spoke to Rolling Stone. As the inspectional services department was getting ready to approve the stage structure, they allegedly noticed a safety issue, according to Boston’s 7News.
When Rolling Stone asked for comment, representatives for Shakira, Aldean, and Brooks & Dunn did not immediately reply.
