A woman who had eight organs removed after being diagnosed with a rare cancer has returned to work.
Faye Louise, from Horsham, West Sussex, began planning her own funeral after doctors found a tumour in her appendix in 2023.
But after “the mother of all surgeries”, she said she was cancer free and able to return to work as a flight dispatcher at Gatwick Airport.
However, after an operation to rectify the problems, she said she “heard the dreaded C-word” and was diagnosed with pseudomyxoma peritonei – a rare tumour that causes a build-up of a jelly-like substance in the abdomen.
As the tumour had ruptured, spreading cancer cells around her body, Ms Louise needed an operation which involved removing eight of her organs.

After doctors discovered a tumor in her appendix in 2023, Faye Louise of Horsham, West Sussex, started organizing her own funeral.
But following “the mother of all surgeries,” she claimed to be cancer-free and ready to resume her job at Gatwick Airport as a flight dispatcher.
“It was the best Christmas present I could have received to be informed that there is no indication of illness,” she remarked.
Before an ultrasound showed an ovarian cyst, the former model first attributed her period-related pains in the spring of 2023.
But following surgery to fix the issues, she claimed to have “heard the dreaded C-word” and heard that she had been diagnosed with pseudomyxoma peritonei, a rare tumor that causes an accumulation of a jelly-like substance in the abdomen.
Ms. Louise required surgery to remove eight of her organs because the tumor had burst, causing cancer cells to spread throughout her body.
Her uterus, ovaries, fallopian tubes, belly button, greater and lesser omentum (which connect the stomach and duodenum to other abdominal organs), spleen, gallbladder, appendix, and part of her liver were removed during the procedure. Her diaphragm and pelvis were also scraped.
As a result, she will continue to have annual scans in November.
I’m afraid that waiting for the outcome will determine whether or not I have a good Christmas. However, she advised, “you simply must never give up and keep moving forward.”.
“Although I have experienced extreme sadness on occasion, I am currently experiencing more upbeat days. “.”.
