As he recovers from the flu, Sir Rod Stewart has canceled a number of US shows in advance of his Glastonbury legends show later this month.

On Sunday, June 29, 23 years after his last appearance at the Somerset festival, the 80-year-old rock star is scheduled to play the critically acclaimed teatime slot.

On Instagram, Sir Rod declared that he was rescheduling two more dates that were scheduled to happen over the next eight days and canceling four others.

He said, “I’m so sorry, my friends.”. “I’m heartbroken and deeply sorry if my fans have experienced any inconvenience. I’ll see you soon, and I’ll be back on stage. “.

His final words were “Sir Rod” and a heartbreak emoji.

Additionally, he announced that he was canceling four shows in Las Vegas and Stateline, Nevada, and that he would be rescheduling two in California.

In the past, Sir Rod stated that he planned to play more intimate venues instead of “large-scale world tours” by the end of 2025.

Nevertheless, he declared himself “proud, ready and more than able to pleasure and titillate my friends at Glastonbury” after being confirmed as the festival’s first act this year.

He told The Peter Crouch Podcast that his scheduled performance on the Pyramid Stage was only supposed to last an hour and a quarter.

“But since I play for more than two hours every night, I’ve asked them for an extra fifteen minutes, and it’s nothing,” he said.

He also announced on the podcast that he and Ronnie Wood, a former member of the Faces band, would be playing at Glastonbury.

On May 26, Sir Rod gave his most recent major performance at the American Music Awards (AMAs) in Las Vegas, where his kids also gave him the lifetime achievement award.

After being introduced to the stage by five of his own adult children, the father of eight appeared surprised. He then sang his 1988 song, “Forever Young.”.

Da Ya Think I’m Sexy?, Every Beat Of My Heart, and Maggie May are some of Sir Rod’s most well-known solo compositions.

An all-time best-seller, he will play Glastonbury’s coveted Sunday afternoon slot, following in the footsteps of Dolly Parton, Barry Gibb, Shania Twain, and Kylie Minogue.

Sir Rod will be the first person to be given legends billing and to headline the festival after making an appearance there in 2002 with Coldplay and Stereophonics. The slot always attracts one of the largest crowds of the festival.

Olivia Rodrigo, Neil Young, and the 1975 are Worthy Farm’s main acts this year.
