Beneath that beautiful façade, however, is a deep fracture: a tense relationship with her troubled sister Nicky (Banks), Adam’s ex-wife and Ethan’s biological mother, who has battled addiction for years. Following the discovery of Chloe’s husband’s murder, the two are compelled to get back together, which reopens old wounds and reveals long-forgotten secrets.
The sisters’ tension is evident, and there are hints that Chloe might have entered the life Nicky had imagined for herself before her struggle with addiction destroyed her marriage and put Ethan’s safety in jeopardy. As the investigation progresses, Chloe starts to realize that her sister might be the only person she can trust, despite Nicky being immediately suspected of Adam’s murder.
Kim Dickens as the confrontational seasoned detective and Bobby Naderi as her friendly partner-in-training, Gabriel Sloyer as Jake, Adam’s close friend and fellow well-known lawyer, Gloria Reuben from “ER” and “Lincoln” as the sisters’ defense lawyer, and Lorraine Toussaint as Chloe’s boss and mentor are just a few of the series’ impressive supporting cast members.
