OnePlus’ new ‘small’ phone isn’t coming to the US, but its AI features are

Eurogamer

While the latest phone in the OnePlus 13 lineup is exclusive to India, the AI features that it comes with will be making their way to US users.
Plus Mind will be rolled out to the rest of the OnePlus 13 series via a future software update, and the company says that more devices will follow.
Every OnePlus phone launching this year is expected to feature the new Plus Key.
Alongside Plus Mind, OnePlus is developing a suite of AI tools, including an AI translation app that combines text, live voice, camera-based, and screen translation capabilities, and an image-reframing tool that analyzes photos to suggest the best cropping options.
OnePlus global PR manager James Paterson told The Verge that “OnePlus is working to bring these features to other regions in the future, subject to local AI regulations.”

Although the most recent model in the OnePlus 13 lineup is only available in India, US users will soon be able to access its AI features. Plus Mind is the most noteworthy since it enables users to conveniently store data in a special “Mind Space” rather than manually recording crucial dates or appointments.

OnePlus’ AI search function can be used to quickly retrieve schedules, reservations, event details, and other data that has been extracted from text or images and automatically added to a user’s calendar. A new Plus Mind feature that will automatically classify saved data to aid in organization will launch “later this year,” according to OnePlus.

Plus Mind will be first accessible on the small OnePlus 13S, a version of the 13T that was just released in China, which will launch in India on June 5. The OnePlus’ iconic Alert Slider button has been replaced by the new, customizable Plus Key button on both phones, which are not available in the US or Europe. The Plus Key can be used to launch the camera, record audio, translate, and switch between normal, mute, and vibrate-only modes, just like the Alert Slider.

A software update in the future will bring Plus Mind to the remaining OnePlus 13 models, and the company promises that more devices will follow. OnePlus 13 and other older phones without the Plus Key can activate Plus Mind by swiping up with three fingers or by pressing the new Plus Key button. It is anticipated that all OnePlus phones that are released this year will have the new Plus Key.

OnePlus is working on a range of AI tools in addition to Plus Mind, such as an image-reframing tool that examines images to recommend the best cropping choices and an AI translation app that integrates text, live voice, camera-based, and screen translation capabilities. The ability to automatically correct blinking and facial expressions is another AI editing tool that will be released “this summer.”.

AI VoiceScribe, which OnePlus claims can “record, summarize, and translate calls and meetings” directly within messaging and meeting apps, and AI Call Assist, which offers real-time translation and automatic summaries during calls, are two features that are only being released in India. According to James Paterson, global PR manager for OnePlus, “OnePlus is working to bring these features to other regions in the future, subject to local AI regulations,” The Verge reported. “”.
