One of the features Android 15 brought was ‘predictive back‘.
Unfortunately, Samsung’s Android 15-based One UI 7.0 offered the predictive back feature only in Google applications, and not in the stock apps.
Folks at Android Authority have discovered that on the Galaxy S25 with One UI 8 beta, predictive back works in some of Samsung’s stock apps as well, including Calculator, Clock, Contacts, Settings, Voice Recorder, and Weather.
Unfortunately, it doesn’t work in some of the other stock apps, including Calendar and Reminders.
Android 15 offers the predictive back toggle in Developer Options.
Android 15 introduced a feature called “predictive back.”. Before you finish the gesture, this feature shows the previous window on the left (in the background) and pulls the current window to the right when you begin swiping from the right to the left edge of the screen to go back. This gives you a sneak peek at what was on the previous screen.
The predictive back feature was sadly limited to Google apps and not available in stock apps on Samsung’s One UI 7.0, which was based on Android 15. This is finally changing, though, as the company’s One UI 8.0, which is based on Android 16 and was leaked earlier this month, was formally made available in beta to the Galaxy S25 series yesterday. Let us examine.
Predictive back also functions in some of Samsung’s stock apps, such as Calculator, Clock, Contacts, Settings, Voice Recorder, and Weather, according to researchers at Android Authority on the Galaxy S25 running One UI 8 beta. Regretfully, it is incompatible with Calendar and Reminders, among other stock applications. This feature operates by default, according to the publication. But in order for it to function, the One Hand Operation+ module of Good Lock needs to be turned off.
Toggle the predictive back feature in Developer Options on Android 15. But the option was absent from that section of One UI 7. Interestingly, the feature appeared when you searched for it, but when you tapped on it, nothing happened—as if it were activated. With Samsung’s latest software, that isn’t the case. In the Developer Section, One UI 8 provides a functional predictive back option. To utilize the feature, however, you do not need to turn on the toggle.
