In a statement to 9to5Google, Motorola says: The availability timeline of the new motorola razr at Verizon was adjusted to ensure the best possible launch experience for their customers.
Verizon has since updated its blog post about the Razr launch with this new date.
Adding to this, Verizon, speaking to 9to5Google, said that no Razr (2025) phones had been shipped to customers yet.
As rumors circulate, Motorola has confirmed that the Razr 2025 launch at Verizon carriers has been postponed.
It was planned for the 2025 Motorola Razr lineup to go on sale through Verizon on May 15th. The device has since been taken off the carrier’s and its MVNOs’ list. On its website, Verizon no longer features any of the latest Razr models.
Although the delay has been verified, no official explanation has been given. Motorola says in an interview with 9to5Google.
In order to give Verizon’s customers the greatest possible launch experience, the new Motorola Razr’s availability schedule was changed. On May 22, it will be accessible at Verizon, Straight Talk, Total Wireless, and Visible.
This new date has since been added by Verizon to its blog post regarding the Razr launch.

The reason for the wait?
Although there isn’t any official word on this, some odd, unverified rumors are circulating. Numerous users on Reddit have reported that they had to refuse to deliver their Razr (2025) pre-orders from Total Wireless after they asked for their items to be returned to the sender. There’s a “fire hazard” around these devices, according to another since-deleted thread. Devices have been removed from storefronts and placed in “quarantine,” according to two other alleged Verizon employees. Although it is impossible to rule out, this is unlikely for a number of reasons.
Most importantly, it appears that Verizon and its MVNOs are the only carriers affected in this case. T-Mobile, AT&T, and Motorola . com have not yet experienced the same effect; however, it appears that some orders placed on Motorola’s own website are also being canceled. Additionally, it’s important to remember that Verizon will still be releasing the Razr series on May 22—just three days away. Both Verizon and Motorola would be taking a big risk if there was even the slightest chance of fires, as the consequences would be severe. Verizon further stated that no Razr (2025) phones had yet to be shipped to consumers in an interview with 9to5Google. Everything had only been shipped by Total Wireless.
If more details become available, we’ll update this post. Following publication, we revised our post to make it clear that fire-related rumors are extremely unlikely to be included in these strange rumors.
