Sean O’Malley is planning for UFC 316 at a reduced cost, if Henry Cejudo is to be believed.
This Saturday, in Newark, New Jersey, UFC 316 will take place. The main event on the card will pit O’Malley against bantamweight champion Merab Dvalishvili. It will be his first fight since Dvalishvili defeated him by decision last September.
There have been rumors that O’Malley is cutting expenses in his card preparations before the fight, according to Cejudo.
In a podcast episode with Kamaru Usman, Cejudo, a former two-division UFC champion, shared what he heard.
According to Cejudo’s Pound 4 Pound podcast, “I think the biggest thing with O’Malley is, did he formulate his camp correctly?” (via Farah Hannoun). There are many birdies in the area. On Pound 4 Pound, I’ll state this: He’s merely practicing jiu-jitsu. His stand-ups and get-ups aren’t working. He isn’t bringing in guys for cash or investing in his camp. All he wants is for everything to remain at home. That puts shit out there. I am aware of some of these things solely because of that. Can Merab Dvalishvili and Sean O’Malley even the score at UFC 316?
When they first met last year, Dvalishvili easily defeated O’Malley. But most supporters concur that he prevailed in the fight by at least one or two rounds. He appeared to injure Dvalishvili with a kick to the body during the last round.
At UFC 316, he will have a difficult time exacting revenge, but it is conceivable given his punching power and striking accuracy.
