Driving the news: 38-year-old Harrisburg resident Cody Balmer entered a guilty plea to 21 counts of reckless endangerment, terrorism, burglary, aggravated assault of Shapiro, and 22 counts of arson and aggravated arson.
He received a prison sentence of 25 to 50 years.
Shapiro and Pennsylvania First Lady Lori Shapiro provided victim impact statements prior to a plea agreement with Dauphin County District Attorney Fran Chardo.

Just hours after Shapiro hosted a Passover seder with his friends and family, police say Balmer stormed into the governor’s home on April 13 and threw Molotov cocktails to burn the dining room.
Balmer allegedly told police that if he had come across Shapiro, he would have struck him with a hammer.
Shapiro was not hurt when he and his family left the house.
The reason Balmer called 911 to report the arson was that Shapiro’s home was attacked because the Jewish governor is a “monster” for backing Israel’s war in Gaza.
Zoom in: Days prior to the assault, Balmer’s mother told the Associated Press that she tried to get her son help for his bipolar disorder and schizophrenia.
Police claimed they lacked sufficient evidence to have Balmer committed against his will because they did not believe he posed a threat to himself or others.
Zoom out: Shapiro’s opinions on the Gaza war have taken a lot of heat.
He had previously criticized colleges for not ensuring students’ safety during last year’s pro-Palestinian demonstrations.
