I’ve been testing the Pebblebee Clip Universal finder tag, and this has some neat features that make it stand out from the AirTag.
First up, the Pebblebee Clip Universal works with both Google’s Find My Device and Apple’s Find My Device networks.
Of course, adding a built-in battery and charging port makes the Clip slightly larger than the standard Bluetooth tracker.
All in all, this Pebblebee offering is a great finder tag, no matter if you’re an iOS or Android user.

For me, finder tags like the Apple AirTag have been revolutionary, saving me countless hours of frustration and time because I have a tendency to put things down and then forget where I put them.

Additionally, the top Bluetooth trackers available are expert-tested.

Other manufacturers are making some excellent finder tags, but I still believe that AirTags are the best because of their precision finding technology, which makes it possible to locate them.

I’ve been testing the Pebblebee Clip Universal finder tag, and it differs from the AirTag in a few interesting ways.

First, the Pebblebee Clip Universal is compatible with the Find My Device networks from Apple and Google. With a few keystrokes, you can switch the device between networks; this resets the tag factory-settingly, but it also allows you to be network-independent.

Pebblebee’s increased support alone gives it an advantage over the well-liked Apple AirTag, which is still only available to iOS users.

You won’t need to discard CR2032 button cells because the tag is rechargeable. The battery can be charged using the USB-C port on the bottom, and it should last for around a year between charges. This is why I think the Clip is a unique tracker, and I wouldn’t mind giving it as a holiday present.

Naturally, the Clip is a little bigger than a typical Bluetooth tracker due to the addition of a built-in battery and charging port. If using the accessory eliminates the need for physically changing the battery, I’ll be willing to pay the extra weight.

Also: I find that traveling with electronics is much easier now that I have this ingenious 4-in-1 keychain charger.

Even though we have so many of these around these days, each tag comes with a USB-C cable for charging, so I appreciate the gesture.

This tag has a bright LED that makes it easy to locate your items in low light, which is a really useful feature that I used after dropping the tag in grass one night. All finder tags have a loud buzzer to help locate the lost item. Perhaps the next iteration would benefit from a glow-in-the-dark shell.

Additionally, there is an iOS and Android companion app for the Clip. Even though you can add the tag to Google and Apple’s Find My networks without installing the app, you will still have access to features like phone finder (double-press the tag to make your phone ring), the ability to create QR codes that you can attach to other objects to locate them, and even the ability to instruct smart voice assistants like Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa to search for objects.

I’ve found that using the tracker without the apps is just as enjoyable as using it with them, but if you want to experiment, the apps offer more functionality.

Additionally, here are six things I did right away after updating my iPhone to iOS 18.5 and why you should too.

You won’t have to worry about sweat, rain, or even getting dunk in a pool because the Clip is IPX6 rated water resistant. It has a sturdy clip to secure it to objects and is composed of durable polymer.

Regardless of whether you use iOS or Android, this Pebblebee product is an excellent finder tag. Finding broad OS support for both platforms is difficult in this market, but it’s encouraging to know that there is a respectable choice for those who require it.
