There will be a multitude of different endings to discover when Avowed releases next year.
While at Gamescom, game director Carrie Patel was asked by IGN how many possible endings Obsidian’s fantasy RPG will have.
“Ooh, that’s very hard to say,” Patel replied, before adding: “I can tell you our ending slides number in the double digits, and you can end up with a lot of different combinations of them.”
The Avowed director went on to state the team has built the game and its gameplay to give players many different options to approaching things, such as with combat and their character.
“And, in terms of the storyline, there are really a lot of choices to be made too, about where your true loyalties lie, who your allegiance is with in the endgame,” Patel continued.
“We’re really excited to see players explore those possibilities and just build their own story.”
Later in the conversation, the developer said there won’t be one true canon ending, as it’s the player’s “experience”.

When Avowed comes out later this year, there will be a plethora of alternative endings to explore.
Inquiring about the number of potential outcomes for Obsidian’s fantasy role-playing game, IGN questioned game director Carrie Patel at Gamescom. Patel said, “Ooh, that’s really difficult to say,” but then continued, “I can tell you our ending slides number is in the double digits, and you can end up with a lot of different combinations of them.”. “. .
“Since this is an Obsidian game, your ending truly is the culmination of your choices made throughout the game, across a lot of content, depending on what you encountered and what you did when you found it,” Patel continued. “.”.
The Avowed director continued, saying the gameplay and game design of the game are designed to give players a wide range of options on how to approach various aspects of the game, like character development and combat.
Patel said, “And there are really a lot of decisions to be made about where your true loyalties lie and who your allegiance is with in the endgame,” in reference to the plot. We can’t wait for players to just create their own stories and explore those options. “.”.
There won’t be a single official canon ending because it’s the player’s “experience,” the developer stated later in the conversation.
You cannot, however, just go ahead and massacre everyone in spite of this freedom. According to Patal, the group decided against using the “kill everybody approach” because, although it can be an exciting and chaotic game mode, Obsidian thought it could “create the game [it] wanted without that.”.
Our Tom has already played the game in-depth for additional information on Avowed and those options.
