As a warm front moves through Acadiana, you can anticipate a high of 64 degrees on Saturday and a warmer day on Sunday. It will be chilly, windy, and rather overcast. Today’s highs are predicted to reach the mid-60s. A powerful cold front will move through Louisiana tomorrow. It will be followed by a powerful line of storms, putting Acadiana at risk for severe weather on Sunday. On Sunday, there is an 80–90% chance of rain. The main line is expected to clear out by 11 p.m. after passing through Acadiana between 5 and 8 p.m. The temperature will drop sharply after this line passes. Between Sunday morning and Monday morning, a 50 degree drop is anticipated, particularly in our northern parishes.

Because of the strong winds coming from the north, which will push in the cold arctic air, the temperature will feel colder than it does on any weather apps. Make sure to bundle up in layers. About four days and nights will pass before this cold sets in. Defend the four Ps: people, pets, plants, and pipes.

The entire state of Acadiana is at a slight risk due to the SPC (2/5). Despite the possibility of an isolated tornado forming within the storm’s path, damaging winds are the main storm risk. For this reason, we’ve declared a weather alert day.
